It was an unexpected road trip. The sea breeze hit her skin as soon as she stepped out of the car. Walking toward the Boardwalk, her step quickened, excited to see the ocean; a giggle escaped her lips as she ran across the dock.

A hand reached out to pull her back for a second. His laugh resonated against her ear, tingling her senses. Klaus whispered, "We have all day to take this in. What's your hurry?"

Caroline turned her blonde head to face him, smiled and said, "I can't help it. I've never been to the Boardwalk before now."

The smile on Klaus' lips spread to a full grin. He traced circles on her arm with his thumb, contemplated his next words when he added, "You can finally say you've been outside Mystic Falls."

Smiling more to herself, Caroline reached her hand up to stroke Klaus' cheek gently, leaned her head to the side, gingerly placed a kiss on his lips. She parted briefly to whisper against the fullness of his mouth, "Thank you, Nik."

In mashing her lips up against his own, Klaus pulled Caroline closer to him, hands wrapped around her waist. He pulled away briefly to whisper, "We might as well go buy you a jar."

Slugging him playfully in the arm, Caroline took off at a run towards the nearest pawn shop with Klaus in hot pursuit. Sand kicked up by their heels reminding them that they couldn't take it all home.
