OUTTAKES OF A GENIUS

"Hey kid," Morgan shouted as he ran toward the corner on which Reid was standing. "I got your message. What's the emergency?"

"We're missing the opening credits!" Spencer stated near hysterically.

Wait... we're what?" That certainly didn't sound right for a '911, 911 come quick!'

"The movie! It's starting!" Spencer all but rolled his eyes as he started walking down the street leaving Derek no option but to follow.

"What movie?" It was only now that Derek noticed just what street they were on.

"The one we're going to see." The one he may or may not have kind of sort of not informed Derek of until this very second.

"Hey now, wait a minute! I didn't agree to seeing any movie!" He really had thought that Reid was in serious trouble and now that he knew he wasn't… well he was gonna be.

"But I brought cookies." Spencer nearly pleaded, but it turned more to whining when Morgan stared on coldly, "Chocolate chip m & m cookies."

"Proof" Derek demanded. The kid owed him.

With renewed hope Spencer pulled the ziploc out of his satchel, Derek snatching it immediately.

"So," Derek questioned as he helped himself. "What movie are we seeing?" Spencer's absolute silence was more than enough answer but still he wondered, "Well how long is it?"

Uhh" He made sure he was nearly an arm's length away before answering, "5 hours"

"5... I'm expected to follow along with some geek fest for 5 hours!" He had news for the man; it was going to take a lot more than cookies to make him okay with this.

"Actually you probably won't be able to." He couldn't help the awkward energy that had him smoothing back unruly hair.

"Is that supposed to be an insult to my intelligence?" Derek stopped walking for that; never had Spencer met him with a better than thou attitude before.

"No! Of course not! It's just..." He crossed his fingers hoping Derek wouldn't turn around and leave. "In Russian"

"In... That is it!" He knew it. This was the part where Derek turned around and walked away.
He was stupid for thinking he'd get Derek to stay and he was even stupider for telling him before they had even gotten there.
"That is it!" Derek swore as he shook an angry cookie. "No way am I sitting through 5 hours of something I can't comprehend!"

"I completely understand." Though Derek had every right to do so the rejection still hurt.

"Good" Derek declared as he gave Spencer a firm clap on the back before starting off." So I hope you like playing Mr. Subtitle!"

Spencer couldn't help but smile as he realized what had been said.

Seeing as he had nearly conned Derek into coming he was getting off pretty easy.
In fact he was actually getting a decent deal.
He got to explain the whole storyline of one of his favorite movies in exactly the way he interpreted it.
For once in his life he could make somebody look through his eyes; they could see as he saw.

Yeah… he could do that. "And you owe me Mexican after this!"
Ehhh, Perhaps he could do that too.
