I wrote this originally to the song "Make It With You" by Bread, but decided it didn't fit how I wanted. Anyway, it now is a stand alone. So here you go!
Set a few days after Agent Barrett and Tony meet in the locker room.
Disclaimer: I do not own NCIS, Bellisarius productions does.
Tony watched as Ziva got up from her desk. He knew she was going to go out with Ray tonight, and for some reason, it did not bother him.
"Hey Zi!" He called before she left.
"Yes?" She answered, turning toward him.
"What do you think about dating a co- worker?" He asked.
"Why?" Ziva cautiously replied.
"Just curious." Tony answered.
"I have, in the past, found it a bad idea." Ziva stated. "However, if I were to like the person enough, I would possibly date him." She told him as she turned back to leave.
"Who would you date?" He called out. Ziva turned and smiled at her partner.
"That is only for me to know." She replied. "Laila Tov."
"See ya." Tony said as she left, secretly wishing he could talk to her longer.
As Tony sat at his desk, his phone rang.
"Hey." A female voice on the other end said.
"Hey," Tony answered. "Let me ask you something." As the two talked, he noticed Ziva come back in. She nodded to him as she went to grab something from her desk.
"Just a playin' charades." He told her as he shut his phone and put it on his desk. Ziva smiled remembering when they first met.
"I have never heard of playing charades over the phone before." Ziva replied. He smiled back at her.
"Why are you back here?" Tony asked her.
"Oh," Ziva said, "I forgot my wallet." The two agents were silent for a moment.
"Tony, why did you really ask me about dating a co- worker earlier?" Ziva questioned.
"Oh, I was just wondering. Also, I haven't really talked to you in a while-" Tony was cut off by Ziva.
"Well then, we should talk." Ziva said as she rolled her desk chair in front of Tony's desk. She sat down before speaking again. "You do not need my permission to date Agent Barrett." She told him.
"Oh, it's not that." Tony said, surprised he understood his intention in asking the question.
"Oh?" Ziva asked, her eyebrows raised. Again, silence came between them.
"Don't you have a date?" Tony asked, escaping her response for more information.
"No." Ziva said. "He, um, cancelled. How are you?" She asked, trying to find a new topic of discussion.
"Doin' better." Tony replied. "How are you?" Ziva smiled and answered his question. The partners talked for hours, happy to be able to let the other in their lives again.
