A Prologue
History always repeats itself. It is a common fact, that many old men often tell their younger sons, who, just as common, don't understand them.
History repeats itself, through legends. Legends have always existed. Legends, that exist for a purpose. The purposes of making us happy, making us think or learn something.
Ancient legends often tell of Kings and Queens and Heroes, fighting evil, rescuing the fair ladies in need. Such legends lived on to this day.
This day, the day that was the start of something that would change to way to look at Heroes forever, a legend that had been told many times through the ages of the land Hyrule would once again be told.
The day, when history would once again repeat itself.
This legend tells of a land, a beautiful land but under the threat of a dark spirit, capable of terrible power. But as the land was in it deepest need, a Hero appeared and saved the land. The Hero of Time.
The legend tells of courage and bravery, something everyone saw as greatness if you possessed it.
On this day, in a land far south, the legend would awaken again. This land was the land of the Sheikahs, a tribe that barely existed and was not big. They lived on however, and in one of all the houses that existed in this desert-like land, there was a grandfather, telling the legend to his grandson.
The grandson that would play a big part in the new legend.
Did his grandfather know that, as he told his grandson the legend? After all, when he had told his grandson the thrilling tale of the Hero and the beautiful land he looked at him wisely and said, 'Keep this in mind, my boy:'
'History always repeats itself.'

My God! ...heh.. anyway, here the REAL story begins... well, the prolouge was a realy story... but anyway... I'm babbling now, so let's just get on with it!)
A Legend Returns
Mist spilled out between the trees in the thick forest. Higher up, the mist was replaced by a impenetrable darkness, as it was night. A figure suddenly emerged from the mist, but no footsteps could be heard, since the man walked softly, and the grass was wet from the damp mist.
The man was young, around the age of twenty, perhaps, and with handsome features. His hair was blondand his skin tanned. But what made the man look special was the fact his eyes had the colour of deep red.
His name was Sheik and a member of the uncommon race of Sheikahs, that dwelled far in the south of the countries.
Sheik was the descendant of another Sheikah named Sheik, that had lived for more than 200 years ago. That Sheikah had been a protector of the royal family, like his sister, Impa.
But that time was gone, the golden days of Hyrule. It was the time when the Hero of the Time had lived. Link.
The lands had been at peace for two centuries, but now there was a rumour of shadows dwelling in the lands again. Bit amidst all the darkness, there had been a small light. The spirit of the Hero had been reborn. Link was back.
Sheik gave a tired sigh, and leaned at a tree and slowly sank to the ground. He could still remember the day he got the news. He had only been a child…
'You see, my young Sheik,' Shin said, 'we Sheikahs are a very spiritual people. We live very close the Sages and the sacred realm, my boy.' Sheik looked up at his grandfather. The five-year old boy took in the words and would remember them for the rest of his life. Then suddenly someone came barging at the door.
A young Sheikah, known by the name Sheeka, ran into the room with her breath in her throat.
'Shin!' she said and bowed. Sheik's grandfather rose.
'Sheeka? What ever is the matter?' he asked.
'The Hero… Link… has been reborn!' she panted. Shin's eyes widened. 'You are sure of this?'
Sheeka nodded, breathless. 'The Sages are awaiting you in the chamber.' Shin made a move to leave but then stopped. He turned his head to Sheik.
'Come my young Sheik, it is time for you,' he said, 'follow me.'
'Follow you where?' Sheik asked. Shin smiled.
'To the Chamber of the Sages.'
That was Sheiks first visit up in the Chamber of the Sages, but not his last. Fifteen years later, Sheik was once again called up again. He found the Sages and the priest, yet something was not right. The sage of light, a priest from Hyrule named Caled, and the leader of the other Sages, turned his head to Sheik, who had grown up to a tall and strong man, and sighed.
'Fifteen years ago it was sensed that the Hero had been reborn.' Sheik nodded.
The priest turned his head to look in the darkness in the by the corner of the Chamber, as if seeing something Sheik could not. 'The shadow in the eastern lands of Hyrule takes shape.' He turned his head back to the Sheikah.
'Sheik, it is Ganondorf. He is back.'
Sheik looked puzzled at them.
'I don't understand…if Link is the Hero he can defeat Ganondorf, like in the legend!' At this Caled sighed.
'We have foreseen one other thing, Sheik,' Caled said. 'Indeed the Hero exists, yet not for long.' Sheik frowned. 'These news has also reached the ears of Ganondorf, I'm afraid, and he will act quickly,' Caled said. 'I'm afraid young Link will be dead before he realises his fate.'
Sheik's eyes widened in horror.
'Therefore, we have chosen you, Sheik, to guide The Hero to find his fate,' Caled said.
Sheik nodded.
'Where will I find Link?' he asked.
'The hero lives in Hyrule, of no more I know,' Caled said.
Before Sheik left, Sava, the Sage of Forest opened her eyes. The Sages had all been silent, meditating under the conversation. Now it was that the Forest Sage always had had the strongest connection to the Hero of Time due to the strong friendship that once existed between the Forest Sage and the legendary Hero long ago.
'Sheik,' she said, 'Have an open mind while looking,' she said. 'Our Hero is special, I don't think it is the one you expect,' she said and smiled secretively. And with that, Sheik was sent down again…
He stood on the hill, the whole Field of Hyrule spread out before him. The sky was dark, as he gazed out over the land. He could see the castle in the north. In the east was the mountains, in the west the great sea and in the south the large desert.
He was suddenly aware of that a bird was sitting beside him, upon a branch by a small tree beside him. It was falcon. It was not a very large falcon, yet still very majestic. Brown with a few white feathers with icy blue eyes, it turned his eyes to Sheik. The unusual eyes seemed to pierce through his very soul. Then it flapped it wings and flew away and with a shriek it was gone beyond the woods.
Sheik followed him with his eyes.
What a peculiar bird, he thought. Then he looked deep into the woods, which seemed to illuminate some kind invisible mystery. He gave a slight frown, and then jumped down the tree and started his journey again.
The Creel Village was a peaceful village with friendly citizens. It lay just at the borders of Hyrule. It was the village where the old legend about The Hero of Time was worshiped the most. The boys were often brave, strong and heroic to prove themselves worthy of the title Hero.
Like mentioned, the town was peaceful, and did not care much for what happened in the rest of the world, and was like a little land of its own. The news of Ganondorf's return had only reached the ones who travelled a lot. But the small town had no worries, until a merchant arrived to the town with the terrible news that Ganondorf was looking for a boy named Link. The village was terrified, since one of their children was named Link.
And one day the dark lord arrived to the town with much anger. But a young boy dressed in green with a shield with the mark of the Triforce on it stood forth to oppose. Yet after a long fight with the Dark Lord he threw the shield out of the boy's hands. Then Ganondorf picked him up by his neck and threw him down a river. And just like that, the Dark Lord left again.
The village grieved for their bravest of all boys had drowned, he was dead. The boy known under the name Link.
Sheik sighed. One month had passed since he set out on his journey. He could not believe it, no one had heard of a boy named Link. He had travelled all over Hyrule, asked the Zoras, the Hylians and even the unfriendly Gerudos.
It was in his despair, that he had suddenly remembered the falcon he had met as he came to Hyrule. It had flown to the woods. So Sheik had followed his instinct and stepped into the forest. His steps had brought him far away from the heart of Hyrule, towards the land's outer borders.
He ended up in the small town of Creel Village. Yet he had hard time believing this was the place the Hero would be dwelling, it seemed so shielded from the outside world.
The windmill slowly turned, round and round, pretty much as it had the past days, months and years, as Sheik paced through the gates to the village. The village seemed very quiet as the light rain began to fall. Sheik turned out his hand and let the rain fall upon his palm. In some way, the rain gave him a sad feeling, as if this country had experienced a great grief.
'We are doomed…'
Sheik turned his head towards the noise so quick that his short blondhair slapped his forehead with a wet strike. An old man was sitting, leaning towards a tree with his head in his lap, talking to himself. He appeared to be somewhat crazy, but Sheik made his way towards the man anyway.
'This great disaster has torn apart our… Oh?'
The old man suddenly found himself looking at a hand stretched out to him. As he looked up he saw a young man standing in front him. He was clearly from the southern borders of the world, as his bare face was tanned, with deep red eyes and sun-bleached hair.
'W-who are you?' the old man asked, shivering from the rain that had managed to chill him into the bones.
'Do not worry,' Sheik said, still reaching out the hand to the man as an offer to help him to his feet, 'I am not your enemy.'
'But you are a stranger,' the old man said and still observed the hand as if snakes would crawl out from it any second, 'And we have learned not to welcome them anymore. Now what is your business?' he snapped.
Sheik pulled his hand back into the cloak he was wearing by the tone of the man.
'I am simply here to look for someone,' Sheik said, 'but this village had caught my curiosity. What disaster has troubled you?'
The old man sighed, and fell silent for such a long time that Sheik began to wonder if he had fallen asleep. Then he spoke, with a voice filled with pain.
'A few days ago an evil man came to our village and destroyed many buildings and hurt many people,' he said and looked up, revealing a face full of scars, 'and he was also looking for someone. So maybe you understand my caution.' Sheik nodded.
'This evil man, who was he?' he asked, even though he already new the answer.
'His name is Ganondorf,' the man said and then he hid his face in his lap again, 'I do not wish to talk about it. Now who is it that you are looking for?' Sheik sighed and repeated the phrase for what for him seemed like the thousandth time.
'I am looking for a boy named Link.'
The man froze, and the only sound that could be heard was the rain dripping against the leaves of the tree. After what seemed like an age, the man lifted his head and his eyes were filled with a great grief.
Then he pointed towards the woods in the east of the village and said no more. Sheik took his advice and left the man to his secret thoughts. As Sheik went through the village he could see the villagers hiding in their small houses, surveying him through their windows, where the rain slowly showered over the glass. Some of them watched at him with hatred, others with wonder, but everyone had the same flame in their eyes; fear.
Yet Sheik wasn't surprised; wherever Ganondorf had been, he had always left the people with the fear of him coming back.
As Sheik finally reached the entrance to the woods he stopped. A mist reached out from the woods, giving it a mysterious look. A sudden shriek caught Sheik's attention. As he turned around he found himself staring into the ice-blue eyes off the falcon he had seen as he had first reached Hyrule.
It looked at Sheik, who didn't move. He didn't want the bird to fly away. But then it flapped its wings, left the branch and soared over Sheik's head and disappeared in the woods.
Sheik looked after the bird as it vanished into the mist. He hesitated, and then he took the first step into the mist.
He could not see anything in the white fog. It was like walking through a cloud. But it was dead silent, no birds, no beasts, nothing could be heard. Saved for the occasional flap of wings from the falcon, which was the sound Sheik was moving after.
After a couple minutes, though, he lost the sound and walked on in sheer blindness. He began to feel that the old man had fooled him, even if he was convincing. Yet someone wouldn't joke about Ganondorf…
Then suddenly a noise caught Sheik's attention. It was no doubt a bird who flapped his wings. This time, though, the sound didn't grow fainter, only louder, and slowly, the fog began to clear…
As he looked out from behind a broad tree his eyes widened in awe by the sight that met him.
A young girl was sitting on a fallen tree, and above her the treetops opened so that the sun shone down on her head. The mist broke the light so it created a mystical sphere around her. She had long blondhair, which was tucked into a strict plait that hung down to her waist. Sheik saw the bird sitting on a branch in front of her, flapping his wings as she stroke his head.
Then the bird suddenly turned his head towards Sheik, who quickly hid himself behind the tree again. It was something strange about the bird, as if he could feel the presence of Sheik. He leaned out to watch the girl again who was indeed beautiful…
Sheik froze. The girl was gone, only the bird remained on the branch, looking at him. Sheik slowly made his way towards the fallen tree where the girl had sat.
He looked up towards the bird again who didn't look at Sheik anymore. He was looking behind him. Sheik frowned, and slowly turned around to see what it was that…
Wack.
The sudden kick in Sheik's stomach sent him flying over the glade and he lost his cloak in the strike. He tumbled around on the ground until he stopped. The hit had struck Sheik with surprise and he groaned.
Ouch.
But as he made a move to stand up, a knife was pointed to his throat he reconsidered the choice.
'Who are you?' a fierce voice asked. Sheik looked up to see the girl standing in front of him. She had a moss green vest with broad shoulders and a skirt in the same colour, perhaps a shade darker. On her feet she had a pair of brown boots. On her arms she had a green band strapped around her forearm, all along out to her fingers in which she held the knife with a white hilt.
But it was the eyes that made Sheik curious. They were deepest of dark blue and the fire of courage burned strong in them.
'I am looking for someone,' Sheik said, choosing his words wisely. The girl's eyes narrowed.
'Who?'
'If you remove the knife I will tell you,' Sheik said. The girl grinned.
'Fair enough,' she said and then twisted the knife around in her grasp and tucked it into a belt that hung on her hip, along with yet another knife. She turned around to walk to sit on the fallen tree again.
'I am looking for a boy named Link,' Sheik said and rose from the ground. The girl froze.
'Why?' Her voice was changed; it was chilly, unlike the amused one she had before. Sheik surveyed her from behind, as he realised that he had finally come somewhere in his quest.
'Do you know where he is?' Sheik asked. The girl turned around.
'Well,' she said and looked at him with a grim face, 'you're too late. My brother is dead.'
Sheik's heart stopped in his chest.
