Marcus watches her from across the room as she slept. That precious sleep she barely allowed herself to receive. Not as if he had much room to speak himself having his mind refuse to settle and giving up after only twenty minutes. He wants right now for that sleep for Abby to be peaceful. a slight smile on her face, breathing calm, deep, and centered. His heart breaks every time he witness Abby thrash her head left to right, the intense frown her mouth is molded into. It is when her hand reaches for her neck and pulls at something invisible draped around it as if she's trying to pull it away and off from her with her speaking out loud "Please no." is when Marcus knows it's time to save her from this pain swiftly returns to the bed and gently shakes her wake. Abby doesn't question why he awoke her, she only gives a quick smile in a weak attempt to make it seem all is fine. They never speak of the nightmares or any of this. They won't until she is ready. And Marcus knows she may never be and he's okay with protecting her this way.
