Ch.1 "We're going to Band Camp!"

"Wahoo!" cried Senior band member Holly Cavanaugh as she boarded a school bus. "We're going to Band Camp!" Her best friend Nancy Hale, a sophomore too, cheered with her.

"Hey, one time, at Band Camp…" began sophomore tuba player David Pettit.

"Can it, you fruit!" shouted Senior Lindsay Douglass. Everyone snickered.

"Well, EXCUSE me, miss little 'Oh, I'm so special! I'm the only Senior French Horn player!' Don't go there girlfriend!" He snapped his fingers across his face and sat in a seat.

A few people snickered, remembering the time David cross-dressed for a Band camp contest. As everyone settled into their seats, Mr. Sommers, the director boarded the bus.

"Okay people, this is it. We are now about to depart for what should be the best week ever! I'll see you when we get there." He got off and walked to the school van, which he was driving to camp. It had all of the sousaphones and bigger instruments on it. And when the signal was given, they were off.

"Welcome to Cardinal Band Camp 2002!" said the flag advisor, Mrs. Caperez . The entire bus cheered. They were at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania at their dormitory, Towers B.

"All seniors and their roommates are to go first." Holly and Nancy immediately stood up and gathered their stuff.

"EXCUSE ME!" shouted Holly as she made her way down the aisle. "SENIOR COMING THROUGH!" A few people giggled as Garrett Tucci, or "Tushie," as he was well more known as, muttered something and Holly glared at him.

"You're on my list Tushie," she said and he grew red as the bus laughed. Holly climbed off the bus and Nancy and her made a dash inside to their lobby.

"Hello…" said Mrs. Williams, one of the chaperones, who was handing out keys and meal cards. She found Nancy and Holly's keys and they were handed their meal cards and lanyards.

"You guys are on the eighth floor," said Mrs. Pintchuk. "But there's a slight problem…" Holly froze in shock.

"Please tell me the elevators are working…" said Holly.

"Nope, they aren't," said Mrs. Williams. Holly's jaw dropped.

"AUUUGGGHH!!!" she yelled, impersonating Charlie Brown. "Come on, Nancy. We may as well start." And they began their descent down the hall and up seven flights of stairs.

"Whew!" said Holly as they dragged their cooler to their room. "Thank God SOME people are strong. Oh well, that's it. Come on, we'll be late for dinner." They made their way down the stairs and entered their lobby. The seniors were having a meeting.

"I take it we're going to introduce everyone?" asked Michelle Beaver, the Flag Line captain. Amy Fabritus, the band captain nodded.

"Not until after dinner though, when we have our first practice. I mean, even though everyone knows who we are, we're going to reintroduce ourselves and give the sub-freshman and freshman their pacifiers," said Amy.

"Hehe, this is going to be fun," said Holly. "I've been waiting for this week for 5 years now…" She grinned and laughed devil-like.
