Ultear, Kain, and Zancrow walked into the base, Ultear was still clutching onto Meredy, who has cried herself to sleep. Ultear walked forward towards the master's room while saying, "I will go tell Master Hades about about the mission."

Kain and Zancrow nodded and walked off in different directions, not really caring about the results.

Ultear walked forward wrapping her arms protectively around Meredy. She knocked on the door. A moment later, "Enter."

She walked into the main room of the base. The hallway was very long and at the end Hades sat on his throne. Ultear walked forward and took a bow while saying, "I came to report how the mission went Master Hades."

Hades one eye glared out from the shadows as he ordered, "You may speak Ultear."

Ultear straighten up and said, "The destruction of the village went well. There is nothing left but rubble and dead bodies, just like Lord Zeref's key order."

Hades grunted in approvingly of their work. He said, "Good, good. Lord Zeref will be happy of your work. But Ultear what's with the child you are carrying?"

Ultear tighting her grip making Meredy squirm a little. Ultear said apologetic, "She was only one still alive hen we found her. She was crying and couldn't I couldn't kill her. I can fell powerful magic coming from her."

Hades sighed in annoyance, "I see your mother's softness for orphan children was passed down to you, Ultear."

Ultear glared at being compare to the person she hated the most. She knew it was true though. She asked, "So can I keep her? I will raise her and teach her everything."

Hades nodded, "she could be of some use once she awakens her power, I also can feel powerful magic coming from her."

Ultear dipped her head, "Thank you Master." She lead and headed to her own room."

One hour Later

Meredy woke up on a huge bed wrapped in a blue blanket. She looked around with wide red eyes trying to figure out where she was. She was now wearing a old purple dress.

Ultear walked out from another room and said, "Oh, you are are awake little one."

Meredy looked up and tears formed in her eyes as she clutched the blanket tightly. She cried, "So it wasn't a bad dream? My friends and family are all dead?"

Ultear walked forward and laid a hand on Meredy's head, "Come on little one, no more crying."

"But my mom and dad are dead. Even my friends are all gone."

Ultear used her thumb to brush away the tears as she said gentle, "I am sorry sweetie for your lost, but I will raise you in their place."

Meredy nodded as she latch onto Ultear as she once again started crying. She cried till there no more tears left, "Why was I the only one left surviving?"

Ultear pulled her into a hug while saying, "Maybe you are special little one. Don't worry, I won't let anyone hurt you ever again."

Meredy finally stopped crying as she snuggled down into Ultear's arms. She wiped away her remain tears. Ultear held her and asked, "What is your name sweetie?"

"Meredy."

Ultear smiled at the name, "That is a pretty name. My name is Ultear."

Meredy tested out the name, "Ultear."

"There you go Meredy."

Meredy smiled brightly for the first time that day. She let out a big yawn as she snuggle down. Ultear looked at the clock and it was little pass 9 pm. She moved down and wrapped Meredy back in a blanket. She said, "I guess it's bed time. You can meet everyone else in the guild in the morning.

Meredy nodded her head in agreement. She was fast asleep minutes later. Ultear sat watching the child for a while with a warm smile.
