Freddie's Point of View

Can you believe it? I am 45 years old and my 22 year old daughter is getting married. To tell you the truth I wasn't too happy on the idea. But after some help from my wife Sam I got used to it. But I still don't like Jessica's (my daughter) fiancé, Mathew. Even though I met him a month ago he still seems like he is taking my little girl away from me.

(Flashback)

Jessica was coming home after her business trip to Italy. I had a welcome home gift I was going to give her when she first walked in the door. Sam was running around like a maniac cooking and making everything perfect. Our other two daughters Catherine and Josephine are just watching television like nothing was going on. Just then Jessica came bursting through the door and said ''Mom, Dad, I'm home!''

We rushed to her with arms open and all gave her a big hug. Then it hit me like lightning. He came. Jessica being the polite girl Sam and I raised her to be introduced us to her fiancé, Mathew Sherwood. Right then and there I knew I didn't like him.

Later that night.

Sam and I were going to bed while talking about Mathew. I asked her ''Do you like Jessica's you know what?'' Sam put her famous smirk and replied with '' You can say fiancé, Freddie. It's not like it's going to kill you to say it.''

''It's not. It's just that-''

''That our first born is going to get married and your not ready?'' Sam said knowing like a book.

''Yeah .'' I said caving.

''Well Freddie, I know you will start to like him after the engagement party.''

''What engagement party?''

''The one that we are supposed to pay for along with everything else?" she reminded me.

''Oh yeah. I forgot that the bride's parents are supposed to pay for the decorations, the caterer, the-''

She then cut me off with ''-The dress, the cake, the wedding coordinator. I know that this will not be the highlight of the wedding experience but can we just be happy for Jessica and Mathew.''

I am a very unreasonable person so I had to make a big deal out of this mess and said

''I know. But we haven't even met his parents yet. What is their some sort of weirdoes or something?''

''Jessica said they are very nice people. Now get a good night's sleep because we have to meet the wedding coordinator.''

(End of flashback)
