The Lesson That Didn't Go Well

"Skittles come here girl." Nick called.

The little dog bounded up next to him.

"What are you doing Nicky?" Jackie asked as she walked past him so she could go to the kitchen to pour herself a cup of coffee.

"I'm going to teach Skittles how to go outside and get the newspaper like I taught Dolly." He answered.

Jackie shook her head, she had a feeling this lesson wouldn't go well. Skittles was a great addition to the family, she was friendly, always wagging her tail and she was great with the kids and the kids adored her but her previous owner was elderly and hadn't taught her much.

Nick had taught her the basic commands and he was working tirelessly to teach her how to walk on a leash but despite his effort Skittles was nowhere near good enough on a leash to let the kids walk her, heck Nick wasn't even sure if Jackie could walk her yet, she might drag Jackie all the way to Blue Diamond.

Fifteen minutes later Nick came back into the house, he was dripping wet with sweat and he held a completely shredded newspaper in his hands.

Jackie looked over at him and smirked.

"How'd the lesson go Nicky?" She asked with a wide smile.

"Not well." He mumbled as he held up the newspaper.

He walked into the kitchen grabbed a paper towel and got it wet with cold water and rubbed it on his face.

He then grabbed his truck keys.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

"Down the street to the convenience store to buy us a new paper, I'd like to read it this morning."

Jackie laughed.

"It's so not funny." He told her.

"Oh, it so is." She replied.

He playfully stuck his tongue out at her and then left the house.

Jackie grabbed the remote control so she could watch TV since she had no newspaper to read.

The End!
