For her birthday, Orihime wants two things: a robot that looks like Yuki Matsuoka and to go dancing with Ishida. She only gets one though, so around four o'clock in the afternoon, Ishida comes knocking on her apartment door holding a bouquet of flowers, wearing his best slacks and dress shirt just for her. Since becoming Orihime's Boyfriend-with-a-capital-B last year, Ishida has tried to make himself more presentable than his usual shabby indie self while in her presence and in public, and so far it's been fifty-fifty success-wise.

He asks where she wants to go, and with a giggle Orihime says it's Ishida's choice. Ishida's choice, as if he goes dancing on a nightly basis -- except he does, every weekend, and tonight he's taking Orihime to his regular haunt in downtown Karakura.

The dance floor is packed but not a mob scene, everyone stepping and swooshing their partners around. Lights stay constant overhead and the music is never too loud; no one tries to jostle them out of the way. Orihime's skirt floats around her ankles as she follows Ishida through the crowd, holding his hand to keep him close. Most of the patrons seem to know Ishida by name -- they say hello, and he says hello back, and soon word's around that the local "King of Swing" is at the club with his girlfriend and isn't it about time he brought her in here?

Orihime doesn't know why they keeping calling Ishida the king until they're in the middle of the dance floor and they're gliding around together, holding hands as they step and twirl in time, king and queen of the court.

For Ishida's birthday, she buys him a silver crown and it's something only the two of them understand and it's a wonderful thing.
