Ten thousand years ago, Wan fused with Raava and became the Avatar. Before they fused permanently, Wan and Raava created a school for benders and nonbenders, but it was destroyed by war. Avatar Wan worked hard to maintain balance, sadly he died during the war.
Ten thousand years later, Avatar Korra opened the spirit portals and merged with Raava after being separated. She rebuilt the school that is founded on the principles of being united, and created a school open to all nations and both benders and nonbenders.
Korra named the school WEFA Academy. Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four elements, living together in harmony.
Before the school became prestigious, Korra invited prospective students and welcomed them when they enrolled.
"Welcome to WEFA Academy. It took time for me to realize Avatar Wan's vision. I hope that the education you receive can help you achieve your goals and help me and the world to maintain peace and balance," said Avatar Korra.
The handful of students cheered.
"Please allow me to introduce the staff. The guidance counselor, Iroh; the librarian, Wan Shi Tong; the nurse and health teacher, Yugoda; science and math, the Mechanist; history, Roku; physical education, Kyoshi; waterbending, Pakku and Hama; earthbending, Bumi and Yu; firebending, Jeong Jeong; airbending, Tenzin; martial arts and swordsmanship, Piandao."
After the opening ceremony, students gathered around in the cafeteria. Katara and Sokka found a table and managed to sit down. There were already a few people seated.
"Why don't we introduce ourselves? I'll go first, I'm Katara Minami and this is my brother, Sokka Minami," said Katara as she decided to break the awkward silence.
"I'm Aang Daksina," said Aang.
"I"m Suki Senshi," said Suki.
"Hello, Zuko here," said Zuko as he waved. "Zuko Eldur."
"The name's Toph Beifong," said Toph. "So, what do we do now?"
"I guess we could talk about why we're here," Katara suggested.
Then the food arrived at the tables. They opted to eat instead. Then they were shown to their rooms.
