BROKEN
I know this is much like the other Jir/Tsu fanfics I've written but I just saw the part where he left her and I had to write something so there goes :)
"Don't do this, you don't have to." She cried
"It is our duty as their elders to set an example, Tsunade."
"Jiraya…"
"How about you bet on me, that I will die, and hey you always loose right?" he laughed.
"W-What!" She exclaimed horrified.
"Calm down! I was just joking."
"When you do find out something, send a toad, I'll be there myself."
"No princess the village needs you."
"So do you."
"Yes, I've needed you for a long time, but it needs you more."
"Please!" she begged.
"No." he said so calmly, as if it was that easy.
"Jiraya, remember that night three weeks ago." Her hand unconsciously brushed her stomach. "You have to come back"
Jiraya gulped. "You-you're-"
She nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me before?"
"It was never the right time"
"And now is?"
"I may not get another chance"
He came closer and held her hand. "Tsunade I-I-"
"You don't have to"
He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her and for a while all their worries melted away. "I love you" He finally said as he let go of her.
"I love you too, always have"
This time she kissed him, and then they held each other on that cold park bench until her tears had run dry.
She got up to walk away and staggered and fell head on. Jiraya rushed over and picked her up.
"You're drunk" he stated.
She shrugged.
He smiled; it was just like the old days, though she'd grown softer now. He carried her to her apartment, put her on the bed and turned away. Just as he was about to leave she called out to him.
"How could you be so cruel?" she stared at him with a murderous gaze even in that drunken state "After what I just told you you're honestly going to go away and pretend like nothing happened tonight?"
"This is my duty, and now that Orochimaru is no more my purpose has ended. You'll understand in the morning when you're sober"
"Don't you pull that nonsense on me, I understand perfectly well. I just had to get drunk to actually tell that I wasn't that only one you were leaving behind. And yet you won't stay, I didn't peg you to be a man like this"
"Sometimes we have to do what we have to do. I will find someone to care for you and the child if I am not to return. I am sorry Tsunade, if I hurt you, it was never my intention" With those final words he left her.
She broke down crying. "You didn't just hurt me, you broke me you old fool."
