It was like any other morning on Bukhan. At 5 AM, the officers would get up and begin their morning ritual of working out, eating and going to watch the sun rise. As per usual, Gi-Jung made the breakfast while Hak Mun and Yeon Seong made the table. This left Gwang-Do and Bae-Ho alone for the moment.
"So... Have you heard from that girlfriend of yours lately? It's been a while since you've been down the mountain." Gwang-Do tried to make light conversation as he watched the change of colours in the sky.
"Ah nah. We kind of broke up..." Bae-Ho said, looking dejectedly at the ground. Gwang-Do looked at his coworker with pity.
"Aww man that sucks! I'm real sorry to hear that..." He scooted a little closer to Bae-Ho and swung an arm around his shoulder. "Lighten up man! There's plenty of fish in the sea right?" His regular wide grin was plastered to Gwang-Do's face.
Bae-Ho sighed, and shook Gwang-Do's arm off. "I guess so..." He said, getting up and walking over to the communal eating area. Gwang-Do followed suit, determined to make his friend feel better. The two sat down and awaited their meal eagerly.
Gi-Jung had outdone himself this particular morning, having made bacon and eggs as well as rice pudding and fish to make sure nobody was too hungry to do their job (unlike a few days ago when their new commander, Tae-Gon had collapsed from low blood sugar.)
"Enjoy guys! We have about 15 minutes until the sun comes up so let's eat fast ok?" The familiarly chipper voice of Tae-Gon rang out as he grabbed his plate and began shovelling food into his mouth.
The group finished the food in record time, and nobody threw up. That's how you could tell it would be a good morning. Once the dishes were in their little kitchen area, the six of them raced to their usual spot, shedding clothes as they went. Their tradition was to be naked as the nature around them while they watched the sun come up to bring in the new day.
Gwang-Do looked at his friends and back at the sun. With a mighty breath, he started yelling. No words were being spoken, but the others joined in soon after.
"WOMEN SUUUUUUUCK!" Bae-Ho screamed.
"I LOVE POTATOOOOOES!" Gi-Jung yelled.
Many things were yelled that morning, as they had been in the past.
Bae-Ho let out an angered cry and grabbed Gwang-Do by the face and kissed him, right on the lips. The screaming stopped suddenly, and was quickly followed by woops and whistles from the other guys.
"Shut up! I was in the heat of the moment!" Bae-Ho defended, his face pure red.
