Aragorn and Legolas were walking through the mountains when a small cat fell to the ground right in front of them. It immediately jumped on Aragorn, knocking the young ranger off his feet into a shrub behind him, narrowly missing a rock. Legolas laughed at his friend's mishap, but a moment later the can ran into Lord Elrond's house, making a beeline for the hall.
"We'd better catch it!" Aragorn said urgently. "It will wreck the hall and we'll be in trouble for it."
He and Legolas raced in just in time to see the cat knock over a chair. Legolas tried to grab it, but the quick cat ran up the elf's back, nearly getting tangled up in his hair before jumping off and spilling a pitcher of water as it landed. At that moment Elladan and Elrohir came in.
"What was that? Estel, what did you do this time?"
"It's not my fault!" Aragorn protested. "Give us a hand here!"
After ten minutes of chasing the cat all over Rivendell, the four of them managed to catch it and return the cat to the mountains where they had found it. It climbed the nearest tree an issed at them before disappearing quickly through the woods.
"Well at least we'll never see that beast again." Aragorn sighed in relief.
Dirty, annoyed and tired, Aragorn, Legolas and the twins tried sneaking in the back door without being noticed, but they bumped straight into Elrond. The Elf Lord glanced at them with a raised eyebrow yet did not comment on their appearance, he had other things on his mind.
"Have any of you seen Erestor's pet cat? It's gone missing and he's very worried. I told him I was sure your four wouldn't mind helping him find it and bring it back here."
The four friends exchanged looks.
"Oh no..." they moaned.
