This is a story I cooked up at night, when I couldn't sleep. The concept of Jocelyn having another child with Luke, giving Clary a sister, has always intrigued me; you may have encountered Madeline before in Small Moments. I'm not entirely sure where this story is going to go-I'm still experimenting with it some-so there is no guarantee that I will continue this until the end. But I would love to know what you all think just the same. (: Please remember to review.
Here is another summary for this maybe-story, from Madeline's POV:
Second summary: I would say that my sister has it all. But the fact of the matter is that I really don't want to. My moving to Alicante and attending the Academy instead of being trained in my own hometown by Isabelle may be a tad reckless, but hey, what's a girl to do? After all, it's not easy living in the shadow of your older sister; especially when your sister happens to be the famous Clarissa Lightwood.
All characters, except for Madeline Greymark, belong to Cassandra Clare. No copyright infringement intended.
I would say my sister has it all. She is beautiful and petite—having had the good fortune of inheriting her looks from our mother. She has the gorgeous, loving husband. The huge, expansive manor home. The endless supply of money. The numerous beautiful children. She has incredible talent as a Shadowhunter, even though she started her training so very late. She has the ability of an angel—to create new runes. And she has the respect and gratitude of Nephilim all over the world. Yes, I would say that my sister has it all—but the fact of the matter is that I really don't want to.
Maybe I should be proud of my sister. But it isn't easy to be proud of your sibling when your constantly being compared to them. In fact, it isn't easy to feel any sort of positive feelings towards them. Don't get me wrong, my sister is probably the best sort of sister you could ever find. She is kind, beautiful, intelligent, and caring. She puts so much time into her children and her husband and her job as the curator for the Library of Alicante, but she still always makes time for me and my parents whenever we want. You would think that our mother would be the matriarch of our family, but then you would be wrong. That description much more aptly fits my sister.
But I can't help a stab of annoyance every time we visit Alicante, and I pass someone in the streets only to be stopped with 'My goodness, your Clarissa Lightwoods sister, aren't you?'
That's right. I am the only sister of the famous Clarissa Lightwood, who saved the Nephilim from certain death and enslavement nearly sixteen years ago, before I was even born.
Life's just not fair, is it?
Do not be mistaken, there will be more than this. But right now it is two in the morning, and I have school tomorrow. (; Review please.
