Evra sat there alone in the tent he used to share with Darren. But Darren was gone now and Evra didn't know when he would return from Vampire Mountain. Evra had to fight to keep back the tears that threatened to spill out at the memory of Darren.
It had been hard for Evra since Darren had left. He felt half empty without Darren there, they had been together for so long.
The most vivid memories Evra had were from when they had gone to Mr. Crepsley's home city together. There had been so many emotions flying around that trip, with Darren having found Debbie. Evra hadn't been to fond of the girl (that had also been the trip that Evra had figured out that he loved Darren), all Darren had done was hang out with her and talk about her; it had gotten very annoying for Evra, loving Darren but Darren loving Debbie…
But Evra had started thinking of that again because it was getting colder again. Darren had talked of Christmas every year that came after that, it had gotten to where Evra was interested in this thing called Christmas. Now it seemed weird that he wasn't here to nag about it. And of course the one year that the Cirque had decided to celebrate it Darren wasn't here.
Evra was hiding in his tent not wanting to go out to the party that was going on, afraid that it would make him too sad about Darren not being there. He was trying to sleep but with no avail when the tent flap opened and Truska entered.
"You not going to party?" She asked him gently.
"No, it wouldn't feel right with out Darren here." Evra replied, sitting up to look at her.
"You were really liked him, did you not?"
"We all did."
"No, you love him, but did not tell. Why?"
"How did you know?"
"I watch persons, see how they feel."
"Yeah, I did love him, but he could never love me back."
"I would not think that so fast."
"What do you mean?"
"He would stare at you long time, and have a look that he was not paying attention to others."
"He did?"
"Very much. Couple time a day, sometime."
Evra felt a smile creep onto his lips despite Darren not being there.
"There, you look like you now." Truska said smiling herself.
"Did you just say that to make me happy?" Evra asked the smile fading.
"Not me." Truska sounded offended by the snakeboy's question, "I never do that to Evra."
Evra's smile returned with a small laugh on the side. "I think I will come out for a little bit." He said standing.
"Good." Truska said smiling.
