Something I Desire

Rain spattered on my mind,
Broken and bruised are my thoughts,
The weariness seeps
Through to my tormented soul.
Longing overtakes me,
A long shot in the race.
Happiness forgot to leave the gate.
Blame falls squarely
In my path,
And I search for
A way to be whole again.
Destroyed by torment,
My doubts showering down
Along the world's spine,
And who am I to complain?
Is life fair? No. Oh, no.
And no one ever said it was.
I look, but can never see
What I want and truly wish to have
It's there, but I can not touch
How I want this thing
It plagues my mind
It makes me wonder
How can I acquire it
I try my hardest,
But it is not good enough
Is it gone? I don't know.
Perhaps it is hiding from me
Taunting me from a place I cannot comprehend
How cruel this world is
Still, I wish I could find
That certain something I desire…
