It was midnight when Ziva knocked on Tony's door.
"Hey" he said, smiling at her, all the while puzzled by her appearance.
She smiled in return before her face dropped once again "I thought some things needed to be said"
He tensed, hoping this conversation would not unleash some of the unresolved issues in their relationship. In an attempt to mask his discomfort Tony gave a small chuckle and offered "So what, no men's room?"
"I meant what I said before Tony" She paused to catch his eye. "You have always had my back. I do not know why I doubted you this time. I just could not believe that you would come and save me after three months like in some... pixie tale?"
"Fairy tale" he whispered softly without a hint of laughter in his voice.
"You thought I was dead" she said softly holding back a tear "Why did you come?"
"Because we're partners, we look out for each other"
"Really?" she questioned. "We have both had other partners Tony how many of them would you get kidnapped in a foreign country for?" Tony could hear the raw emotions in her voice. She was a changed women and she was looking for answers in their cat and mouse relationship. Tony sighed.
"You said you had a lot of time to think" he took a deep breath before asking the hardest question of all. "Did you think about me?"
"Everyday" she whispered after a moment of hesitation. Ziva lifted her gaze to his to gauge his reaction.
"We both knew this day was inevitable" he said, slowly bringing his hand up to cup her cheek.
Despite Tony's first fears she didn't attempt to move or kill him, she merely said "Nothing is inevitable"
"This is" he whispered; bring his lips slowly to hers.
