Inkheart FanFiction

That Feathered Quill

Chapter One

Meggie watched while Farid busily organised his things. The barge rocked from side to side, as Mo demonstrated his expertise at the tiller.

Maybe a small holiday for all of them was what they need, but Meggie just didn't feel comfortable away from Elinor's big, country house.

Mo had said that they all needed to get away from Inkheart for a while. Maybe he was right. But it didn't feel like it to her.

"Why is my blue-eyed angel just sitting there?" Farid laid down his vial of Fire Honey and came towards her, "You know I hate it when you do that.

Meggie gave him a small smile and squeezed his brown hand.

"Just thinking."

"I hate it when you do that, too." He grinned.

"Sorry," Meggie turned to face the Indian lad, "Thinking is a bit of a habit."

"Well guessing what you're thinking is too easy - if I'm right - and I'd like you to stop thinking it right now," he snapped his fingers in front of her eyes.

Elinor walked in through the boat partition, her head in The Wizard of Oz.

"Ok Love-Birds," she looked up, "Mortimer wants some help with the locks in a minute, so Farid you must tidy up this stuff!"

Farid quickly kissed Meggie, as Elinor turned away, and returned to his pile of luggage.
