I AM NOT ELSA, I DO NOT OWN ARENDELLE.
This fic was inspired by a comic strip of the same nature, and content.
Olaf stood outside the open doorway of Queen Elsa's bedroom, trying to peek inside the dark room. He had been playing in the courtyard with Anna's grandchildren, but then a maid had come and had told him that Elsa urgently needed to see him.
Elsa was old now, very old, she hardly left the castle, or her room, Anna, who was slightly younger and stronger, or Anna's children, helped to govern now.
Elsa's voice floated out of the shadowy chamber, "Olaf" said Elsa.
Olaf grinned at the acknowledgement and ran into the room, taking time to appreciate that Elsa had put out the fire so he would not melt.
Elsa was lying in bed, waving her hands up and down, causing snowflakes to fall across the room.
Olaf giggled as a snowflake landed on the carrot that served as his nose. "Hi, Elsa!" the little snowman chirped.
Elsa ceased her production of snowflakes, and held out her hand to Olaf.
"Olaf, come here" Elsa requested softly.
Olaf's smile disappeared, and he walked forward and put his hand in Elsa's.
Elsa looked at him with a sorrowful expression on her pale, wrinkled, face.
Elsa squeezed Olaf's hand.
"I am so sorry Olaf, but I can't freeze you any more" whispered Elsa.
Tears began to run down the aged Queen's face. "Our time is up, I am so sorry" Elsa sobbed.
Olaf lifted Elsa's hand and pressed it against his white face, Elsa's skin was warm, and Olaf pressed her hand closer to his face, trying to soak in as much of that warmth as he could.
"It's okay, Elsa, this one time I want to be warm" Olaf murmured.
"Olaf" Elsa said, in a broken voice.
Olaf stared at Elsa's frail body, she was tiny and weak now, her gold hair was grey, and her body wasn't tall and splendid, like Olaf remembered it, Elsa's days of glory were gone now, and no one, not even Anna, seemed to remember that she existed.
But Olaf knew that the woman he loved was still in that body, Elsa was lonely and forgotten, but Olaf still thought she was beautiful, Olaf still loved her, Olaf still remembered her.
Olaf climbed onto Elsa's bed, and wrapped his arms around her, he was made of snow, but Elsa was immune to the cold.
Olaf sat there, surrounded by her warmth and listening to her heartbeat
"It's all right, really, besides some people are worth melting for." Said Olaf.
Elsa smiled and hugged Olaf back, Olaf felt the blissful heat explode inside his chest, and he knew he was melting, he did not care though, he continued to hug Elsa.
Elsa watched Olaf fade away, Elsa smiled again, knowing that Olaf had gotten his warm hug at last.
Elsa closed her blue eyes, and with one last burst of her power, she froze herself.
Later, Anna rushed up to Elsa's room, finally coming to visit Elsa, but all she found was a puddle of shimmering water on the floor, and an ice statue of the late Queen of Arendelle.
Anna hugged the ice statue of her sister, just like Elsa had done for her, so many years ago.
The next day, the people of Arendelle gathered for the period of required mourning.
But there was no funeral.
Up above in the castle, Anna watched as her sister's statue also melted to the ground under the rays of the rising sun.
Anna made the journey up the North Mountain alone, despite the others protests.
She climbed to the spot where Elsa's magnificent ice castle once stood.
Kneeling down, Anna placed a carrot, two twigs, and a golden crown on the snow beneath her.
She never returned from the mountain, without Elsa's love to protect her, the ice and snow were finally able to claim her heart.
