Chapter 1
The Start of Something New
I walk slowly down the hall on the upstairs portion of my new school trying to find my homeroom: RM.28. As I walk down the hall, I could feel new eyes looking my way as I pretend not to know. I approach the room. My new teacher is sitting at her desk probably grading awful language papers that these grade 8's do. I lightly knock on the door hoping not to startle her. She turns around just as the bell rings.
"You must be Kate" she exclaims.
I just smile and nod. Almost like I'm normal but of course, I'm not. The teacher, Ms. Elat assigns me a locker and a desk. I sit right next to a short, dark haired girl who looks too cherry for my liking. I look around and immediately figure out who is in what typical group. Popular girls with millions of layers of lip gloss. Jocks with their dream football university jersey. Nice boys and girls with their sunny smile and colourful attitudes. Even nerds who would rather do homework than hangout with friends at Starbucks. But then there's me alone and group less. If only there was a group for mythical creatures. I would definitely fit in there. But then just as if God did it for a reason, I just laid eyes in the cutest, hottest guy like ... Ever! For the rest of the period, I hardly heard a word the teacher said. I wouldn't keep my eyes away from him! Sigh. But the sad thing is, a boyfriend or even a crush is not in my fantasy schedule. My main goal in this school is to keep my secret as well in as I can or else we're going to move again. Being a fairy is so very hard.
