Brevi Tempore

Shawn rolls over to see a note on the pillow. Written in blue ink is the clean letters of the words "Brevi Tempore". Shawn knows what this means, but only because Jules told him only yesterday. So, how does she know he'll remember? Shawn does tend to space out. He hadn't, though.

At the time he was staring at her eyes, and he wouldn't have heard what she was saying, but somehow he did. He could read her lips, and that voice of hers floated into his ears easily. It was like sweet music.

"I'm leaving, Shawn," She had said quietly while Shawn was studying her face. Again, and again. It never got old.

"When?" He had asked, and Juliet smiled. She'd known he was listening, but she couldn't quite shake off the little bit of doubt that lingered in her heart.

"Brevi tempore." Shawn's eyebrows had risen up, and he looked so confused. Juliet just wanted to stay with him, but she has to go visit her Mom in Washington.

"Who?"

"Shawn, it's Latin."

"Latin is a dead language," Shawn mumbled while he leaned closer so that his forehead had touched hers.

"A beautiful dead language that many others were built off of!"

"Touche. So what does Brevi tempore mean?"

"In a short time," She explained to him. He nodded, now understanding it.

"So, you'll be leaving soon?"

"Yes."

"When will you return?"

"I'm not sure. But when I know, I'll tell you."

"Alright." She smiled and kissed him.

"I'm going to bed now." But when she stood up Shawn jumped up.

"But Jules! I wanted to watch the Goosebumps marathon. Don't you want to watch with me?" Juliet bites her lip. It was so tempting, especially since Shawn had been pouting.

"Alright. Just two episodes, though." He had clapped his hands together in excitement.

"Yay! I'll go make popcorn! You go turn the TV on!" Juliet rolled her eyes and did as she was told. He appeared with popcorn a couple of minutes later.

Now, as Shawn lays in bed, still sleepy eyed, he's holding the note high up, and staring at it longingly. She left. But on the contrary, she also knew when she'd be back. Bevi tempore. In a short time.
