Phoenix's Silhouette
Phoenix woke with a start and shot out of bed. The scene replayed in his mind over and over again. He unpinned his attorney's badge and handed it over to the Bar Association representatives. He let his head fall back on the headboard, and felt his spikes squash out behind him.
He never expected this… He had a whole future ahead of him… He'd already lost Maya and Pearls to Maya's new job as the Master of Kurain, now he'd lost his whole life. He failed Mia, and even Godot to a certain extent.
He still remembered his first case, right after he got his attorney's badge. Phoenix chuckled softly. He was really excited then, pinned it on and ran around the office. Then, Larry got in to so much trouble. He sighed, turning to the side and saw the small sleeping shape on the couch. Trucy… The little girl he adopted and took under his care. Phoenix knew that he had to stay strong for Trucy.
He often thought to himself, what do I do now? He did need to support himself and Trucy; he wanted her to have a decent life. To do that, he'd need a job first. Job... The word hit him over and over again, as Phoenix thought back to what he had lost. He shook his head; he should be job hunting right now. The empty pang of losing his life clouded his thoughts. He glanced back at Trucy on the couch. No time for that!
Trucy groaned and shifted her position. Phoenix stood up and sat next to her. Trucy shifted again and curled up next to Phoenix. He smiled weakly and stroked her hair. Thoughts started running through his mind… What do I do now? I shouldn't have taken the diary page from Trucy… It's not her fault though! What should I have do-! He was interrupted mid-sentence by something falling on to his lap. Trucy had shifted her position again to flop her head on to his legs. His gaze softened. He went back to his thoughts. Maya… Pearls… I never got to see you in the end… Where were you…? Nobody was really there for him besides Trucy, and he just found out that Iris was freed from prison… I don't have anybody to take care of me anymore do I? He glanced at Trucy once more, thinking… And so do you… I'm glad I found you…
Even though I have Trucy… I'm really all alone… Maya, Pearls, Edgeworth, Gumshoe… They never came… Why did they… He felt another pang of pain and hurt… Leave me…
Trucy was now sleeping peacefully and had wrapped a cocoon with her blanket and was curled around Phoenix's legs. He smiled a true, genuine smile this time. Then again… At least I have you Trucy.
