Aneko: Wow, yet another story I haven't written in my notebook, yet I'm posting. Naruto fics seem to do that to me.

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.

Cry of the Heart

From the beginning they were total opposites. She was bright, warm, and happy. He was dark, cold, and angry. So, it makes you wonder what made her love someone like him.

At first it was debatable whether or not she really loved him, or if she was only another of many fangirls, who couldn't really see the person behind the face. As she was assigned to his team and got closer to him, she thought her dreams had come true-surely he would love her now! Right?

Or so she thought, anyway. Being on the same team, spending so much time with him…she began to see a different side to Sasuke…and it staggered her. She began to realize that she had not known Sasuke at all. All she had ever seen was the calm, collected Sasuke, who never showed flaw or weakness. The coo,l, handsome guy all the girls cooed over.

Sure, he was still like this, but now she was beginning to see past this emotionless mask. It was only a momentary expression, or a flicker in his eyes she would see, but it revealed so much.

He was alone.

She had heard the story of the Uchiha massacre before, and she had felt sorry for Sasuke, but she had not truly felt his pain. If she had looked closer, she might have seen the loneliness behind those cold eyes.

She had not understood, at the time, why Sasuke had treated her so harshly for bad-mouthing Naruto, and how alone he was. It was only when they had gone to Sasuke's apartment (for a very unwanted birthday visit) that she realized. The absence of any other living person was like a missing limb—it felt wrong.

Somehow, it made her love him even more. Her heart went out to him—and it was not in pity. She wanted to take the loneliness away, and give him something better than revenge to live for.

He was not like her in any way. He was a destroyer, an avenger, she, a healer.

He spurned every attempt she made of trying to go out with him, or talk to him. Perhaps he felt that she was just another fangirl. It was like he felt that reaching out for help was a weakness. It made him shoulder all the pain, all the loneliness, by himself. He wouldn't depend on others because ten ytears ago he was taught that bonds bring suffering.

She refuses to accept that.

Whether he wants her to or not, she loves him.

She had tried to imagine what it's like, being alone. It is unbearable. And so she promised him, not exactly through words, but through actions.

She will always be there.

She will always love him.

Because she knows that no one can live in complete loneliness happily.

Aneko: Another I forget to post, I'm afraid. Oh well, it's here now. Ja, Sayonara.
