Everything was spinning. David shut and opened his eyes several times, hoping the spinning would stop. There was no telling what was ground and what was sky.
"You alright there, mate?" Hook inquired, putting his hand on David's shoulder to steady him.
"You," David yelled as he pushed him away, "Stay away from my daughter!"
He pulled his sword out and pointed it at Hook.
"I saw you and her toget-" he began to say but collapsed on the ground.
"David!" Killian exclaimed and bent down to steady him once more.
"I-I..." David stuttered, "I'm sorry, I didn't..."
"No need, just hold on, we're almost there."
"I don't think I'm gonna make it, Hook."
"Of course you are," he encouraged.
"Just leave me here."
"Now I don't think your wife and daughter would be very pleased with me if I did that, now would they?"
But Killian could see how weak David was. He was in no condition to argue or listen to sassy remarks. The sweat dripping down his face, the shivering... He was not going to get back up again. What they needed now was a bloody miracle. A savior.
"Emma," he whispered to himself. "Think of Emma," he said louder. "Think of the bloody amazing daughter you have. She has spent her whole life without you, don't make her live the rest of it without you as well."
David looked up at him but didn't have the strength to say anything.
"Do you know how strong she is? How she carries people? She's the most incredible woman I've ever met in all my years, mate. She's a marvel. And she deserves to get to know her father. Properly. Not when your lives are constantly in danger. You have so much to learn about her and experience with her. She needs all the love you can give her, and quite rightfully she deserves it. Therefore we are going to get this damn flower and heal your wound. Then we are going back to the camp where you will be reunited with your loving wife and daughter. Don't you dare give up on them, Prince. Don't you dare leave them behind. They don't deserve that kind of pain. No one does. So find the last of your strength and fight for your family. Don't let this island defeat you."
Killian took David's arm and placed it over his shoulders and he pulled him up and helped him move forward.
"I am not going to let you abandon them, Prince Charming."
They were going to do this.
For Snow.
For Henry.
For Emma.
