"Fuji how should we settle the check?" Inui inquired to his teammate. They decided to visit a ramen shop that opened nearby the local street tennis courts. What they failed to plan beforehand is who will be saddled with the check.
-
"Hmm, perhaps in a battle of wits?" his companion offered as a suggestion.
-
"While I am all up for that," Inui began, "with your tensai talent we would be battling all night."
-
Fuji only grinned in agreement. Inui knew him too well it seemed.
-
"Then how about this," Inui suggested, "whoever is the 'best' at something won't have to pay?"
-
"A wonderful suggestion Inui. Now the best at what? Tennis? Pop quizzes? Running?"
-
"Hmm…" Inui said contemplating.
-
All of a sudden a few of their tennis teammate spotted them and wandered over.
-
"Eiji, Momo, Kaidoh," Fuji greeted, "what are you doing here?"
-
"Well this is the street tennis courts," Momo pointed out, "you two aren't dressed for tennis so what about you?"
-
"Well we decided to try out this ramen shop," Inui explained, "and now to settle the check we need to decide on who is the best at something."
-
"Ahh," Momo said, "Well then how about who's the best at being mean?"
-
"That would be no contest Momo," Eiji joined in, "Fuji would win."
-
"What? But Inui-sempai is the one who forces us to drink his Inui juices."
-
"Yea well Fuji tricks people for his own amusement."
-
"Ahh Eiji," Fuji teased, "I'm hurt. Is that really what you think of me?"
-
"Yea and there's no denying it!"
-
"Well you know," Momo added, "Kaidoh is pretty mean too. His face is so mean looking it scares everyone away you know."
-
"Why you…" Kaidoh who had been following the conversation growled at Momo.
-
"What are you going to do about it Viper?"
-
"Now now, guys," Taka who walked in with his old friend Jin Akutsu said to calm the duo down.
-
"Che! You guys are lame," Jin complained, "I'm clearly the meanest. I have no complaints about beating up anyone who gets in my way."
-
"Oh, what's this," said Akaya who walked into the shop with some of the Rikkai team, "Who's meanest you say?"
-
"My, my," Fuji observed, "we're attracting so many people."
-
"Indeed," Inui agreed, scribbling information into his notebook.
-
"Anyways I'm clearly the meanest person," Akaya boasted, "my tennis is all for harming the other player."
-
"Akaya you know that's not true anymore," Jackal interjected, "Captain Sanada would be the meanest because he slaps us as part of our tennis discipline."
-
"Oh I can top that-desu!" Dan said running into the shop.
-
"I'll like to see you try," Akaya taunted.
-
"Well I once saw Tezuka slap Ryoma so hard he fell down-desu," Dan said, "and he's the main character!"
-
Everyone bore expressions of surprise with the exception of the people who witnessed it themselves. Who knew that Tezuka would go that far? Though knowing Ryoma he probably deserved it. Even so, he was the main character.
-
"Che! This is boring," Jin said breaking the silence, "I'm leaving."
-
"A…Akutsu, wait for Dan!" The small tennis player raced after his old teammate not wanting to be left behind.
-
All too soon the Ramen shop thinned out, leaving only Fuji and Inui.
-
"Good Data," Inui murmured rapidly scribbling into his notebook.
-
Fuji just smiled, nothing seems to faze Inui it appears.
-
"So Inui," Fuji suggested, "how about we go Dutch?"
A/N: Eh it's ooc I know but it was fun to write. I can't get enough of Ryoma getting slapped though.
