SHE USED TO BE MINE

It had been before Azkaban that he had last seen her. Just after his brother's death. Walking out of their apartment with a suitcase and tears streaming down her face. He had cheated on her the a week before after getting drunk at the Hog's Head and wallowing in his self pity instead of going home to her.

He watched her dancing to the slow, sad music with Kingsley, he husband. Their children played a little to his right with Harry and Ginny's children. His 'grandchildren'.

As the music ended she was whisked away by Tonks and Kingsley made his way towards him, sitting himself down to his left.

"She's beautiful tonight, isn't she?" the dark, handsome man asked him.

"She's always that beautiful and if you can't see it, you're a fool." He answered.

"I married a woman who could never love me. I'm not sure 'fool' is the right word."

Sirius quirked a questioning brow to his fellow order member.

"She still loves you. She always has. I have been good to her and we function well. The children are well loved. But she never loved me."

Sirius looked down at his hands with guilt. Oh how far the consequences of our actions reach.

"I'm sorry." He said in response to Kingsley.

"Don't be. This is the last time we will be seen in public as a couple. We get divorced tomorrow."

At this Kingsley wandered off leaving Sirius think of his Liz as a single woman again.

Later in the night as he stared into space his view was obstructed by a mass of red satin. He looked up unto the green eyes of his love.

"Hello Sirius." She said with a knowing smile.

"Hello Elizabeth."

"I heard you've been talking with my husband." She said quietly.

"Yes."

"We got married after you went to prison. Until then I always thought we'd end up back together." She said with a light, sad chuckle.

"Me too." He responded, looking deep into her eyes.

"He loves me, but won't negotiate on the divorce. He said that you still love me and he won't hold me back from making you and I happy. I need to know tonight. Do you still love me, Sirius?" Elizabeth asked while looking intently at her shoes.

"I've never stopped loving you, Lizzie. I was an idiot that night. One of my biggest regrets was hurting you. I'm sorry."

She placed a hand on his gently and said,

"I'm yours again tomorrow. I love you, Sirius Black."

With that said Elizabeth Shacklebolt left for the last time with her husband.

Tomorrow she would come home to her Sirius.
