Vivian sighed while the last rays of the hot star in the sky faded into the west. Normally, she would have been amazed by this like most creatures would in this world, even more so since she was mostly living in the dark for so long. Ever since being introduced to it and the concept of the solar and lunar cycles, though, she enjoyed the sun's warmth, but was depressed for some reason when it set.

Mario and his band of party members stuck around in Poshley Heights for a much needed break after the chaos that was finding the Garnet Star. They checked in at the hotel for the night just as the sun was fully setting.

For some reason, it unsettled her. She was used to the darkness, but this time, it just didn't feel the same.

"Hey, Viv?"

She turned behind her to find Koops and Mario behind her, confusion and slight concern on their faces. "Everything okay?" Koops asked.

"Y-yes," she replied. "I'm fine."

That night, Vivian took a look around in the darkened hotel room she and Ms. Mowz were staying at. The Mowz next to her was asleep, her mask and boots to the side along with Vivian's hat. Unable to sleep, she had taken a moment to figure out why she felt this way recently. Now that she knew, though, she had to make out a thank you for him.

Quietly taking the covers off of her, she went up and took her hat before using her veil ability to slip into the shadows. She only hoped she was going in the right direction, and hopefully not somewhere where she wouldn't be able to handle herself in a sticky situation.

Taking a wary peek, she soon found herself in a room with only one bed and one sole occupant sleeping under its covers. That was Mario, though the good news is he wasn't snoring just yet. It was going to be a relief for the Yoshi, who was surprisingly a light sleeper. She fully emerged and gulped nervously.

"Mario...I don't know how to say this right, but...I'm not sure if I can look at a sunset without feeling...sad," she said.

After making sure she kept her voice low, she took a deep breath and continued. "For some time back when I was with my sisters, I hid in the shadows to escape my pain. I didn't know why, but...I felt comforted when I did this. And so I kept going...but then you came along."

Now was the time when she started feeling a bit sentimental. Pushing her bangs away, she brought her arm to her red eyes, wiping away tears that were beginning to form from under them.

"You taught me that comfort doesn't always have to come from the darkness," Vivian finished with a smile. "So long as there are those who love and care for you, being in the light isn't always that bad. And I want to thank you for that."

Approaching the sleeping man, Vivian gently pulled the blanket so that only his head remained uncovered. "That's all," she whispered. "Good night..."
