The Encyclopedia Galactica has this to say about Party Animals:
Party Animals are people that enjoy a good party.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to say about Party Animals:
There are Five distinct forms of Party Animals:
(1)Non-partiers
(2)Light-partiers
(3)Sometimes-partiers
(4)Heavy-partiers
(5)And lastly: Shy-partiers
(1)Non-partiers are those stuffy people who always say they are too busy to be bothered to go out and have fun, but then stay at home and pretend that they had gone along.
(2)Light-partiers will go to the party, and then stand at the punch table all night. Afterwards they will say they had a great time when actually they did nothing at all.
(3)Sometimes-partiers are the most populous of all party goers. They will go to a party on occasion, have a great deal of fun and then head home until they feel the need to repeat the process.
(4)Heavy-partiers are the life of any party and will normally travel in packs trying to find a party, or will travel with a group of Sometimes-partiers that are heading to a party. They will arrive- usually uninvited- cause an uproar, drink heavily and bring the enjoyment levels up to unbelievable levels.
The peoples of Betelgeuse are known to be the heaviest partiers in the Galaxy.
If you want your party to succeed then you will want to attract as many Heavy-partiers as possible, or simply have it on or near Betelgeuse.
(5)Finally we have Shy-partiers, the rarest of all party goers. They are often times confused with Non-partiers and Light-partiers with their aversion to doing anything fun.
Unlike what the name suggests though Shy-partiers are not all that shy once they are into the swing of a party, and can rival Heavy-parties for their partying stamina.
What makes them shy is their insecure nature. They will only party if surrounded by a familiar group of Sometimes and Heavy-partiers, usually a group they formed in their youth, and only if the party itself is of a good enough caliber.
It is considered a great honor within most parts of the Galaxy to be someone that a Shy-partier feels comfortable enough around to party with, and a greater honor if your party is acceptable enough to be partied at.
If you suspect someone of being a Shy-partier then the worst thing you can do in approach them about it. This will simply cause them embarrassment and ensure that you never get a chance to party with them, which is something truly amazing to do.
Instead you should throw a party yourself and invite the Heavy and Sometimes-partiers that the Shy-partier hangs around with. They will drag their friend to your party and, if the party is acceptable, the Shy-partier will 'Party the night away!' as the phrase goes.
Ford Prefect reread this entry as he watched his, usually stalwart, friend Arthur Dent living it up in the middle of the dance floor. He never would have guessed him to be a Shy-partier.

AN: Let me know what you think! If I get enough requests for one I'll write a second, much longer, chapter for this.
