Was bored one day and choose to write a little one-shot, introduction piece. Not sure if it will ever come around to being a full story, but it was just on my mind, and I wanted to place it on paper.
Draco's POV
Absolute silence.
Not even a noise from outside of these four walls can save me now. She looked at me with sad eyes; disappointed eyes.
"When?"
"Not three days," I replied.
She nodded grimly.
"I'm sorry."
She looks up at me in shock of what I say.
"You don't have the right to be sorry. We were working on this together, trying to avoid the situation entirely, and you go and do whatever you please!"
Her gaze fell to my left forearm, which was still not covered with the sleeve of my shirt. I had been stiff since she pulled at the fabric to examine her suspicions.
She needed to understand that this wasn't her fault; although neither was it mine. I had been tightly secured when they branded me. The Dark Mark was for those in his closest circle, and while I never joined he saw fit to use me as a game. Placing this on my arm was something I would never forget. Hearing my mother sob in the corner, since she was forced to remain present, made it worse.
Now I am in the company of the only other woman who affects me in such a personal way.
If you had told me years ago I would someday actually talk to Granger, in a way which did not include spitting out an insult, you were easily dubbed crazy. Now it is so much more than I had ever though.
This year was my turn to show my worth; to my father, to the Dark Lord, to myself. Instead, I found myself staling as much as possible with repairing the Vanishing Cabinet since my life was looking up for once due to the one person I had just hurt the most.
I pull down the sleeve of my arm before looking back up into her eyes which were starting to fill with tears.
"Would you like to know?"
"Now you want to share?"
"I've wanted to tell you, but I knew this is how you would react."
"How else do you expect me to react Draco? You are now technically his."
"I am not owned by anyone."
"You don't even see it do you?" She asked rhetorically before continuing. "He can call you when he sees fit, He can order you to do something and you physically have to obey. He can hurt you." She said the last bit quietly. I wonder if she wanted me to hear it with how little her voice carried that statement.
"He can do all those things whether I have to mark or not Hermione."
She nods before turning towards the door.
"Is this it? Is everything over now?" I called to her backside.
I saw her shake her head minutely.
"I just need time," she responded
I remained silent as she continues to cross the room.
"Maybe we can still fix this," she said determinately, turning herself back to face me.
"You said it yourself. There is no going back from this."
I hear a sniff and then see the tears fall down her cheek.
"I'm sorry Draco."
These were the last three words said between us before she turn around, and left me alone.
Once again in absolute silence.
Once again trying to figure out how to fix this.
Once again, without her.
Just a little bit that I wanted to post and see if people enjoyed it. No promise I will continue, but please let me know if you like. Might encourage me.
