Based off the 2005 original Xbox video game "Shattered Union, which depicts a Second American Civil War occurring in the United States starting in 2014. A peacekeeping force is sent by the European Union to reestablish the United States, and they occupy Washington DC and nearby states at the start of the game. This was one of a number of propaganda posters placed in EU-held cities.

Citizens of the former United States!

For the second time in your nation's history, secession has come to American shores. For the second time, disunion threatens to destroy the United States. To put to ruin all that your great leaders, most especially the Founding Fathers, worked for and tried to build.

DON'T LET IT HAPPEN!

Democracy is an imperfect system, and the larger a nation grows the more challenging the task of making a republic endure becomes. But abandoning your countrymen of more than two centuries is not the answer to your problems. The United States has been a leader among nations for over a century, its flag and ideals a symbol of freedom around the world. These symbols are needed now, more than ever.

THE EUROPEAN UNION FIGHTS FOR FREEDOM!

In the aftermath of the nuclear blast that destroyed Washington, D.C. and the subsequent breakup of the United States, the leaders of the European Union's member nations met and held an emergency vote. EUFOR North America was created to restore peace among the warring American factions, and to reestablish the Union of states. This peacekeeping force includes soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines from around Europe, most especially France, Britain, Italy and Germany. These nations were once bitter enemies; now we stand together as allies, dedicated to the protection of freedom, equality and justice throughout the world. In unity lies strength- join the European Union's peacekeepers in restoring your great country to its place among the nations.
