Once upon a time, in Once-Upon-A-Time Land, there was a beautiful princess named Leia. She had a wonderful family and was respected by everyone. One day, she met a handsome prince at a ball. They fell in love and he even asked her to marry him. She did, and they had wonderful children, and they lived happily ever after. In Once-Upon-A-Time Land.

Once-Upon-A-Time Land doesn't exist.

It's just a collection of great dreams. Dreams don't last forever. They die, shatter, fade away. Reality has a harsh edge. A harsh edge that is good for breaking dreams.

Leia's life was far from the other princess',the princess in her imagination. She was a princess, but her home and family had been blown up by cruel, evil, heartless people. And she had no time for meeting princes. Leia was too busy fighting a war, keeping herself safe, making sure the Republic would live. War doesn't leave time for romance. It makes time for sorrow, and heartbreak. It barely makes time for dreams. But Leia is glad it does. Dreams are all she has now.

Leia has no real family left. She has Luke, Han, and Chewy. She considers them family, sometimes. She has little respect from the Empire and its followers. She is on their most wanted list, somewhere up there in the top twenty. She has no prince. She did have a charming smuggler. Perhaps he was better than a prince. All the princes she had ever met were pretty boring, anyhow. Leia has to admit, she could love Han. If she let herself. She could get married and have children. She could let her dreams come true. The Republic comes first, though. the Republic is more important than her desires. Maybe one day...

Maybe Once-Upon-A-Time Land does exist.

Maybe dreams are made of something stronger than reality.

This is just a one-shot I wrote while trying to get over writer's block for my other story.
