For CP, who did a spectacular job meeting her goals in round 9. I hope this does well enough to meet your expectations!
I'm awoken by a sharp wail, one full of terror and anguish. I can't help but feel the immediate instinct to protect whomever it is that may be in such turmoil. My mind is hazy and groggy, my movements a significant amount slower than they'd usually be. I try to look around, the harsh lighting in the room causing a sharp pain to ring through my head. It's almost migraine-like. A groan escapes my lips.
"Oliver?" comes a broken whisper from the corner, sounding familiar. Too familiar for me not to know them. I turn my head sharply again, ignoring the pain, and trying to pick myself up off the floor. A messy head of red hair, and a freckled face meets mine. The terrified brown eyes of Percy Weasley meet my own and in that moment shock and slight anger fills me.
"Percy? Wha-What's going on?" I begin to ask, feeling anger bubbling up inside me.
"What did you do?" I ask, seeing his shaken expression. Though I feel guilt only seconds later as he shrinks away from me. It's in that moment I notice his hands that are shaking like crazy, and the dark circles that fall under his eyes in great contrast to his ashen skin. All the anger drains out of me, because who am I to blame Percy? It takes all I can do to not grab his hands and stop their shaking.
"I think we're - that we've been…" He trails off, unable to finish the sentence. Though I think I know where he's going, I still have to ask.
"Kidnapped?" He nods, putting his head in his hands. I pull him to me, wrapping him in a warm hug, and whispering comforting words into his ears. We'll begin a plan of escape soon, but for now he needs comfort. So I hold him as we fall asleep. I have to save him. Whatever hell we're in I know one thing for sure.
"We'll get out of here," I whisper to a fast-asleep Percy.
- 1 week later -
We run down the hall frantically, my heart pounding in my ears as we run. I try to ignore the bullets that zip past our heads, pushing Percy in front of me so he won't get hit first. That gates are in sight, and though this isn't the best plan of action, it's still the one that's worked the best. Percy and I are pushing ourselves, my legs feeling like they'll fall off as we narrowly escape the gates.
There's a forest to our left that we immediately sprint through, swearing to stop at civilization, but not until then. They have cars, we don't. That's a significant advantage that will not be benefiting us anytime soon. We run for what seems to be hours, lungs burning as we continue practically sprinting through the woods.
"I see a house!" comes the excited shout of my redheaded lover. I turn my head to his direction, following where his finger is pointing. We quickly run that direction, breaking out of the wooded forest at last to see a small town. Our town. Percy leads me to his family home, and it's only once we're inside that I let out a relieved sigh. Percy starts laughing, perhaps the shock of all of this finally weighing down on him. Or maybe it's his way of showing relief. He turns to me, a brilliant smile on his face.
"We're finally safe."
