AN: Just something I came up with while strolling around Deviantart...

Rowena Ravenclaw paced up and down the room.

Sitting on an over-stuffed chair, looking out the window, Mistress Hufflepuff stared out the window. She glanced at her long time friend and sighed.

"Rowena, would you stop that insufferable activity? Masters Gryffindor and Slytherin have not returned to the castle yet, and it is nearly dawn. Maybe we should send out a search party?"

The pacing witch scoffed. "Those two buffoons are full grown men. We do not need to be stressing over whether or not they're in arm's reach. That's their mummy's job." She tapped her chin and continued to wear a path into the carpet.

"Honestly," Helga huffed. "Stop that! You're making me dizzy."

"Well excuse me, Helga, but there is a grave matter at hand."

"And what would that be?"

"Finding the perfect motto for Hogwarts."

Hufflepuff raised a brow. "A motto?"

"Yes!" Rowena exclaimed. "A motto. Bernadette Beauxbaton has a motto for her school. Apprendreest la clé," she repeated in a mock French accent.

"Learning is key?" Helga Hufflepuff shook her head. "But that's so obvious."

"Exactly! What we need is the most obvious statement for our motto. Something that would require the least bit of common sense to realize, but something someone would never think to think of. Something only a complete idiot would do."

Helga opened her mouth, maybe to scoff at her friend, or to suggest a phrase, when Masters Godric and Salazar burst through the chamber door.

Helga and Rowena gawked at them. Their skin was covered in soot, their clothes were singed, and the end of Salazar's ponytail was smoking.

"Never," stated Godric, as he put out a fire on the end of his cloak, "tickle a sleeping dragon. Ever."

Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw looked at each other, at the confused wizards, and then back at each other, large smiles creeping up onto their faces.
