There were disadvantages to living in a school full of teenagers, Minerva decided. Aside from the mess and noise, which she had somehow gotten used to, there was the issue of constantly being surrounded by what Albus called "young love". The former Headmaster certainly enjoyed seeing romance bloom, and occasionally, he would even give it a little push. Minerva herself, however, had realised she did not possess the ability to do so. If she were being reallybhonest with herself, she would admit that she was simply being jealous.

The children were happy, with the people they loved, and in a way, it hurt Minerva because it was not a privilege she had had. Not that she would admit as much to anyone, of course. She would simply sigh and put those thoughts away.

It was on a night when she found the need to patrol the corridors rather discretely, i.e. as a cat. It was not something she made a habit of, but she did indulge occasionally. This night, however, she found no rule-breakers, much to her own surprise. Filch must uave done his rounds before her, she realised.

Her suspicions were confirmed when she saw a lone figure sitting on the floor in the middle of a darkened hallway, staring interestedly at her. For the umpteenth time, Minerva wondered why Filch did not choose to keep his cat closer to himself. She always seemed to be wandering everywhere.

But just as Minerva was going to shift back to her human form, she heard a quiet mew that stopped her. Mrs Norris was still looking at her through her gleaming eyes, head slightly tilted. Minerva made it a point to rarely ever mew, but she decided this situation merited an exception, and so she replied to Mrs Norris with a soft purr of her own. The other cat now began to walk towards her, even as Minerva stood frozen to her spot.

It was only when Mrs Norris was close enough that their whiskers were almost touching, that Minerva realised the position she was in. What was she doing? She couldn't possibly... and that too with a cat! Granted, she was a cat herself, but still! It would be atrocious!

Mrs Norris placed a soft paw on hers, as if to reassure her. Minerva momentarily considered changing back again, but instead decided to follow her new found friend, who was waving her long tail majestically.

Minerva questioned if it was some kind of cat hormones that were making her do this, but then gave up that line of hought, and decided to ask Luna Lovegood about it later. Sh turned her attention back to Mrs Norris, who had moved some distance away, and was beckoning her to foloow.

Minerva sighed again, partly with resignment, and partly with a strange kind of excitement. It was going to be a long night...

Notes: Please do not take this seriously! It's meant to be crack that pretends not to be crack. Hopefully I got it across...
