Hi, this is a one-shot idea that just came to me, at one am, and having to go to school in less than five hours, I had no choice but to write and upload if I wanted to read it... Enjoy!!!

Loneliness

In all his life, Ryoga always thought he was lonely.

When he had stumbled into Jyusenkyo, Ryoga thought he would be lonely forever.

When he met her, he thought he might not be as lonely as he thought.

He had thought he was in love with a girl who just considered herself his friend.

He had thought he was in love with a girl who liked him for his strength.

He had merely been friends with her.

Akané was an illusion.

Ranma, a deception.

Akari, hope,

But she had been loneliness.

He was sitting beside her grave, seven months after her death, and had not moved from her side for three months. He had been lost when she died, and had not found the place on time for the funeral. He had seen her without noticing. He had met her without knowing. He had fought with her, as opponents yet also as a team, without ever really thinking of her. But on that day, the day she had died, the illusion had shattered.

And it hurt.

Ryoga hated all his curses, as they only resulted in loneliness, but this time, more than ever.

Being constantly lost meant he had hardly ever seen her,

Being a pig meant he had been afraid of her

Being too romantic and shy had meant he had only seen the illusion, even after he had met her.

But, above all this, he hated the fact he hadn't cared, hadn't seen, hadn't noticed or known her.

She had been lonely too. As an after thought, he had only ever seen her alone, trying, like himself to find… someone. They had both tried too hard, looked too far, and now, it was too late. She had always been beautiful, but violent, strong, yet fragile, understanding, as well as needing to be understood. He had never seen it until then, but they complimented each other wonderfully. And she would never know.

Finally, Ryoga got up and left, leaving a single red rose on top of a tombstone.

The epiphany read:

"Ukyou Kuonji,

A girl, friend, chef and fiancée who strived for recognition

May she never be forgotten"

And kilometres away, a note lay forgotten where the wind had blown it. It lay in front of a restaurant called "Ucchan's Okonomiyaki", and read:

'I never saw you before,

But now that I do

I shall strive to make sure

I never forget you"
