"I'm in love with you. That pretty much goes against all laws of reason, completely blows the roof of irrationality, and catapults right out of the galaxy of insanity."

Jack and Ianto were left blinking at each other.

Ianto spoke first, "Well… I didn't expect that."

"Neither did I," Jack sighed. "But it's true. Somehow or other, I have managed to fall completely, utterly, and totally against my will in love with you, Ianto Jones. You aren't some sort of witch or warlock, casting a love spell on me, are you? Or using alien tech to manipulate my emotions? Maybe it's not you, maybe it's someone else. Someone doing something screwy to the universe that makes me fall in love with you."

Ianto watched Jack rant in silence. When it seemed he was done, Ianto piped up. "I shall choose to not be insulted by all that."

Jack reached out and grabbed Ianto by the shoulders. "I… I'm in love with you. Do you have any idea how long it's been since I was actually in love with someone? I mean, really in love?"

Ianto attempted to shrug through the pressure on his shoulders. "No. A few years? A decade?"

"Try sixty years. Sixty years since I last fell in love. That was with Estelle. And before that it was about one hundred years, after Rose and the Doctor left me. I'd fallen so hard for the both of them."

Ianto stared at Jack for a long moment. Then he sat down on the couch opposite Jack's desk and got out his cell phone.

"Why are you sitting down? Who are you calling?"

"I have a feeling the explanation is going to take a long time. I'm ordering pizza."
