Requests
Summary: Oscar needed to make this video for Josslyn.
"Are you okay?" Cameron asked with concern, lifting his eyes from the phone to meet Oscar's. His friend looked so pale and frail. It was amazing how quickly things had changed.
The other boy swallowed hard and nodded. "I have to do this."
"Okay." Cam murmured. "If it gets to be too much, tell me." He lifted up the phone again and motioned for Oscar to continue speaking.
"I know how hard things are, Josslyn. I know how hard you tried to be strong for me and it just makes me love you even more. So I have a request for you. I need you to look out for yourself. Don't push people away. Don't...don't build a wall around yourself. I need you to be happy again. The world deserves to see your smile and someone deserves to have you love them with your whole entire being the way you did me. I want you to live your life and become everything you ever wanted to be. I want you to travel the way you want to and eventually get married and have kids. You deserve the world. It hurts to know I'm not going to be your forever, Joss. But I can't regret anything about our time together. You've been everything I could've asked for as a first and only love. I think you're the reason I've lived as long as I have. I love you so much, Josslyn. I need you to believe that." Oscar looked down as he finished speaking, taking a shaky breath.
Cam saved the video and lowered the phone. "I'll show this to her when...when it happens."
Oscar smiled weakly. "Thanks for helping. I need to ask you something else. I know you love Josslyn. The way that I love her. And I think she could love you too, eventually. That's why I need you to look out for her. She pretends to be strong and she is. But no one is that strong."
The boy looked down and nodded. "I can do that." He didn't try to deny what Oscar had told him. There was no use when it ws the truth. He stood to his feet. "I should get going. I promised Jake and Aiden I'd get ice cream with them."
Oscar didn't answer, already drifting back off to sleep, exhaustion overtaking him.
The words Oscar spoke filled his mind as he caught sight of Josslyn sitting crosslegged on the floor, feet bare and face lit up as she played action figures with Leo as Olivia and Julian watched from the corner of their eyes. Cameron was going to do what Oscar asked. He would've even if he hadn't.
