"Elizabeth." The young woman turned to face Jack, only to find a pistol aimed at her chest. "We've got an old score to settle you and me."

"I'm sorry." She looked away, unable to look him in the eye. He laughed without mirth at her words and stepped forward to take hold of her chin.

"No Lizzie, you're not."

She watched in silence as he holstered his pistol and his face drew nearer, his hot breath mixed with the aroma of rum tickling her cheek. "You still believe you did the right thing-"

"I know I did." She objected, all traces of fear vanished from her pretty young face. Jack grinned. That was what he wanted. Elizabeth Swan the pirate, not the lady.

"You know one day we're going to have to settle this, pirate's code insists. And when that time comes you will be sorry." He seemed suddenly more terrifying and cutthroat than Elizabeth had ever imagined he could be. "Just make sure. For your sake, the next time we kiss we're not near any shackles."

"I'm not a pirate!" She shouted as he turned his back to walk away. "And there won't be a next time." With a leer and a quick look behind his shoulder he laughed.

"Keep telling yourself that."
