Background: Both are in their late twenties with Kyouya being only slightly older than Tomoyo. Both are with (very) successful careers. They've happily gotten married after years of being in a very committed relationship.
Secret Morning Activities
We were from two completely different worlds, Tomoyo. Sometimes I still can't believe this is for real.
Fully awake in bed, Kyouya was thinking to himself. Something - someone - was definitely more attractive to him than sleep ever could be, and for now he still couldn't help but think to himself what a lucky man he is.
(Funny, though, he never really thought of himself as lucky before. All of his accomplishments, after all, had largely come about because of his own efforts. Because of his own calculations and strategic decision-making. But her, she just simply loved him too, out of her own volition.)
I could never have had you if you had not wanted me too, and I would never force you to choose me. I could never claim to be deserving of you, after all.
It never ceases to amaze me how much a miracle it has been to have you in my life. I could not have found you myself, nor could have I chosen a better woman.
Meanwhile, time went about its usual way. Kyouya's thoughts were interrupted by the realization that he only had barely an hour left before his sleeping beauty would wake up.
On a minor note, I also can't believe I've been consistently waking up earlier. (Really, what would the Host Club say?)
Tomoyo snuggled a little closer to Kyouya, thankfully still peacefully asleep.
Could she be dreaming? I hope it's about me.
Or better yet, I hope it's about us.
Kyouya's intense silver gray eyes gazed lovingly upon his lady's sleeping form. Kyouya helplessly resigns into a smile. He was supposed to always be the one melting ladies with his eyes, especially given his Host Club background. He had never looked at a woman with so much interest and passion and attention as when he watches Tomoyo, and yet it was always him who melted inside when he sees her. With all her excellent qualities, her commitment in accomplishing things of significance and her passion for helping people, with her gentle and peaceful spirit, it was simply amazing she's actually real.
It seemed almost like yesterday when they had first met. When they had their first real conversation. That time when they first talked about their secret dreams and plans. How finding out about each other's weaknesses only strengthened their partnership. It was through friendship that they had discovered how surreal it was that they matched each other so well. Discernment, wits, insight, depth and perception taken into account, they immediately knew each other better than anyone did. More importantly, they instinctively knew that their two worlds had always been meant to become one.
Being the morning person that she is, Tomoyo promptly woke up at five.
Seeing her sleeping husband beside her, she wondered for a brief moment why her beloved Kyouya wasn't waking up earlier than she knew he actually could.
Little did she know that he, in fact, had been waking up very early every morning. Not that he was doing this to get some work done (a typical motive he might be accused of), he just regularly woke up early enough to watch Tomoyo sleep deeply enough that she would not wake up from his gaze, after which he would get back to sleep.
Author's Note:
They're actually my favorite pair. Too bad they don't have any crossover anime episodes. That would've been awesome.
More chapters coming up. Stay tuned. :)
