This is a ficlet that I wrote after seeing an inspirational picture of Roy and Edward. No one was harmed in the making of this ficlet, though someone now has a slightly smaller ego and maybe a slightly bruised pride.
"I'm back!" Edward stated happily strutted in through the doorway of the office after his trip to see Izumi-sensei. The team greeted him as he walked to the Colonel's door. He gestured with a tilting of his head to the closed door before asking Hawkeye "Is he in?"
"Yes he is…but he has work to do so you can't take too much of his time." she said in a tone that booked no argument from the boy.
"Don't worry, Hawkeye. I won't take anymore than 5 minutes." Ed grinned and walked though the door.
When he got in, he shut the door and turned to the occupant of the room. "Hello Roy. How have you been?" Fullmetal asked in an uncharacteristic show of politeness, as he watched the man stand up and walk towards him.
As they embraced, Flame say softly, "Welcome back, shrimp"
Ed pulled violently back and almost started to yell at him… then he took a good look at Mustang and grinned. Then he said very calmly, "If I'm a shrimp, what are you?" at Roy's confused look, Edward put a hand on top of his own head and glided it over to Roy's head…and it didn't touch. "That's right Colonel Bastard, I'm taller than you now." With that stated and with the look of someone who had just accomplished world peace, Edward strutted out of the office leaving a pale, stricken Colonel behind.
