Don't Hate The Game by Melfina Lupin

Summary: Himura loves teasing Kudo but he thinks he may love it too much.

Author's Note: Just a short one-shot. Shounen-ai abounds Himura/Kudo. I didn't know if I should call them by their first or last names so I just picked the latter. Story takes place in Volume 3 when the guys are at the all-boys high school XD.

Disclaimer: CLAMP owns Legal Drug and the dialogue is all from vol. 3

Himura was enjoying the game far too much. Of course that didn't stop him from playing it. It was just too fun and easy to tease Kudo, and it took little effort to make Kudo uneasy, uncomfortable, and confused. It was so fun it ought to be illegal.

He was just an easy target, so naïve, so gullible. It was like he walked around all day with 'pick on me' tattooed on his forehead. If Himura told him the world was flat Kudo would believe him. If he told him that gravity was a lie Kudo would jump off a bridge. Himura knew that it was dangerous being that naïve but instead of pitying the boy, Himura took advantaged of the situation and mercilessly messed with Kudo as often as he could. Maybe too often.

When he grabbed Kudo's chin with his thumb and forefinger he just meant to calm him down before he could too overexcited. The change in the smaller boy was instant. Kudo paused, his amber eyes large with shock. Himura rarely touched him this way but it wasn't like he hit him. Inwardly, Himura smirked. He could really get use to that result. He had Kudo's unwavering attention and silence.

Himura pushed the game a little further as if daring to see how far he could go. He moved closer until Kudo was held against the tree and Himura's solid form. Kudo was locked in a state of bewildered fascination, staring up at him unblinking and uncertain. A pink glow brightened his white cheeks. Himura smiled to himself. Kudo wouldn't know if he was lying or telling the truth now. Himura didn't even know himself. That thought almost killed the moment for him. He liked teasing Kudo. He even liked Kudo when he wasn't crazy but did he like Kudo? Suddenly he knew he liked feeling Kudo pressed against him. The smaller boy was warm and soft at the same time. It was a heady fusion that inflamed Himura's body.

"You've got such soft eyes and gentle hair," he heard himself mutter, his voice a pitch deeper now. His free hand caught a lock of Kudo's light hair and held it. It was as soft as he imagined it would be. He stared into Kudo face. "Some might even call you beautiful."

So deep into the game Himura realized he didn't know lies from reality. But he couldn't stop now. He was addicted.

Himura leaned closer until their faces where inches apart. Kudo's small body stiffened and he started to panic then.

"Riku-"

He stopped Kudo's flustered protests by simply placing the back of his finger against his lips in a gentle caress. The pink skin felt as smooth as a flower petal to Himura. But it was time to back off for now. Any more teasing and Kudo would explode and so would he.

"We're being watched," he explained like that was the reason for his actions.

Kudo looked and saw no one at the window. He looked worried.

"Did you see them?"

"No," Kudo started, hesitant. "I could feel his eyes on us, though. Somewhere over there. Maybe looking from a dormitory window. When I looked up, I saw a curtain move, but nobody was there. I guess it could have been a breeze…"

"We're out of earshot of anyone standing at the window," Himura said. But if that was the case, he thought to himself, why did he have to say all those things to Kudo? Just to tease the boy? Maybe in the end he liked to tease himself because there was a part of him who knew that he could never be as close to Kudo has he'd like. But that didn't mean he couldn't play against the odds. Hell, one day he might even win.
