Written for the Colors Competition: Orange Negative, and also for the Freeverse competition. :)

As much as she didn't want to,

she plastered that

STUPID

smile

on her face again.

Pansy folded the letter and put it in her pocket.

It was what she

ALWAYS

did.

"It's from my mom,"

She'd say,

which wasn't a lie.

It really was from her mother.

[ But no one knew how she really felt. ]

[ What her mother really wrote. ]

It wasn't all {smiles and kisses} like she portrayed it to be.

It was horrid,

scary,

evil.

The messages were all threats.

Threats about everything.

Threats for someone to be killed.

Threats for her to be killed if she didn't do what she was asked.

And every time, she did what she was asked.

[ But no one knew her little secret. ]

[ And no one needed to find out. ]

So, she plastered that stupid smile on her face once more.

Pretending to be happy,

[ When really, she wanted to yell and scream and kill her mother for all the

cruel

things she had done. ]
