The Burden

I make more decisions in an hour,
Than most do in a lifetime –
Decisions far harder,
Than should ever be made,
Especially by a young boy of my age.
In battles,
In meetings,
In life.
Faced with so many
Who aren't as they seem,
I fight in this battle
To save a planet
Already lost to all.
Lost, like my innocence.
In battles,
In meetings,
In life.
I make the choices that will,
Lay out the fate of our planet –
A burden far heavier,
Than should ever be borne,
Especially by a young boy of my age.
