Emily knew that in a moment like this you told the person you loved that you loved them. She opened up her mouth to say something and then closed it again. She was nervous and she hated being nervous. She didn't understand how she could chase down UNSUBS and be alright with it but when it came to telling Hotch that she was in love with him she just couldn't get the words out of her mouth.
Hotch looked at Emily and saw how flustered she was. He had to bite back a smile because it wasn't very often that he or anyone for that matter saw a flustered Emily Prentiss. When you did see her flustered it was a sight to behold.
Hotch finally took in a deep breath and said "Just give it to me Emily. What is it that you need to say? It can't be that bad."
Emily swallowed and finally said "When love takes over nothing is really bad Aaron. It's just finding the words that I want to say. I love you Aaron and I think that if you would listen to your heart you would see that you love me too."
Hotch's breath rushed out as he listened to what it was Emily was saying. He knew that what she was saying was the truth. He did love her and he did want to tell her but part of him was afraid. He wasn't afraid of loving her. No he could never be afraid of that. What he was afraid of is that everything would change between them if he admitted how he felt. Then he figured what the hell if she had the courage to tell him how she felt then he had to have the nerve to tell her to tell her.
"You are right Emily. I do love you. Will you be mine?" Hotch finally said. His heart was beating a mile a minute as he waited on her to answer him. He just hoped that she would say yes.
Emily's eyes widened and she said "What did you just say Hotch?"
Hotch reached his hand out and grabbed her hand and said "I said that I love you Emily. Then I asked you if you would be mine. Say you will be mine Emily. I want you in my life for now and always."
Emily nodded and said "Yes, yes, yes I will Aaron."
Hotch smirked and leaned in for a kiss.
