I don't own 'Psych' or Lassiet. A very big 'thank you' to 'sarahhaley' for being an amazing beta!

Carlton Lassiter shifted his weight from one leg to the other, completely uncomfortable with his surroundings. This coffee shop that he and Juliet O'Hara stopped by on their way back to the police station always had that discomforting effect in him. The case that they were working on was grueling to the both of them. They had the suspect in custody and on his way to the station.

But that was nothing compared to the torture Lassiter was going through right now. Juliet was talking to the cashier, it wasn't that she was talking to someone, it was the fact that Juliet was doing it so easily. It came so natural to her.

He had a hard time talking to people that he saw every day. Even more so when they where blonde, with blue eyes, and had a rockin' body with sun kissed skin that he wanted to kiss- He stopped his thoughts there. How could he have forgotten the most important rule in his line of work; don't fall in love with your partner. Yeah he was screwed. Big. Freakin'. Time.

Somehow, his foot seemed to slip into his mouth every time he talked around her. Like the time when he said that she wasn't hot. Big lie. Stupid foot getting in his stupid mouth.

It looked as if Juliet was done talking to her new friend, so Carlton took his coffee from her and used his long legs to his advantage, getting to the car before her. He stood next to the passenger side door waiting on her, so he could open the door for her, like the gentleman that he was, and ushered her inside.

Once they started down the highway, he asked her, "How do you do it?"

Juliet scrunched her nose up in confusion. "Do what?" She asked, not understanding the question.

Carlton sighed and said, "Make friend so easily. I can't even seem to keep any one around long enough to talk. I don't even have a best friend." Juliet was stricken with guilt, even though she didn't do anything. She took Carlton's big hand in her own small one, rubbing soothing circles into the back of his hand, kissing the skin. Juliet hummed, thinking of something to say to him. Suddenly it hit her.

"Carlton, you know that I love you, right?" She waited for Carlton to nod. "You also know that we work together all day." Again she waited for him to nod before carrying on. "Well, that means that we spend all most all of out time together, right?" Another nod. "That means that we know each other in and out. That means that we are best friends."

Carlton wanted to disagree with her, but he sayed silent.

"Now, bear with me on this one," Juliet sighed. "Believe it or not, I didn't have any friends in middle school."

Carlton scoffed upon hearing that.

Juliet let that one go to be discussed for another time, and continued regardless. "No really, I didn't. I was a comic book nerd back then. You know how middle school is. If you're not popular, then you're gonna get made fun of. All of the other girls made fun of me for it, girls that I thought to be my friends. But I continued being me, nerdy as that was. Eventually, Middle School ended, those mean girls forgot about me, and I moved on."

Juliet frowned a little before continuing. "But you, Carlton, have never judged me for anything . There was time that you could have, but you didn't. That is what a true friend is, someone who will be there for you no matter what." Juliet smiled brightly, saying, "Carlton, honey, you are the best friend that I have ever had and probably will ever have."

Juliet waited for him to absorb this information, she started to rub the newly placed wedding band on her left hand, staring at his own matching wedding band on his left hand, smiling when she saw it.

Juliet may have to help Carlton with his confidence once in a while but the 'thank you' she got afterwards was fine with her. She could live with that.
