It was a beautiful morning. The bids were singing and dew was and the grass. The rising sun shone upon the ground. Fireheart rose, stretched, and padded out into the brisk wind. Cats were all stirring and moving from their dens to the clearing. Fireheart's gaze fell upon every cat, and then he caught his breath. Near the fresh-kill pile was the stunning cat Sandstorm. Apparently she had just groomed herself and her pelt shone in the couldn't stop staring at her, she was so beautiful.
Though he'd never admit it, he had a small crush on her. Fireheart remembered how when he first came to ThunderClan, she had mocked and ridiculed him. Slowly but surely, she'd stopped being so harsh to him, but still didn't talk to him. Until the leaf-bare day Bluestar asked him to go hunting with her. They'd romped and played in the snow, and she'd caught a rabbit and shared it with him. Fireheart blushed just thinking about it.
A voice pulled him from his memories and back into reality. "Fireheart, why are you staring at Sandstorm?" said a voice he knew well. Turning around, he saw his friend, Graystripe. He self-consciously gave his chest-for a few licks. " Nothing," , he said, "just thinking about who Bluestar will choose for the hunting patrols." "It was true," he thought, "just for a reason I don't want him to know." Noticing Fireheart's embarrassment, he changed the subject. "So how'd you sleep?" "Great how about you?" "Fine."
At that moment, Bluestar's mew rang out. " Fireheart, Sandstorm, Graystripe, Dustpelt. You are going to go on the first hunting patrol. Try hunting near Sunningrocks. You might find something there. Be careful of the snakes though. " " Ok, sure, why not, I don't see a downside, were the responses from them. Together, the went through the tunnel and headed towards Sunningrocks.
