Don't Lie to Your Mother

A/N: Heard this joke/parable last night and thought it would be funny translated from "don't lie to your italian mama" to this! Enjoy!

Doris Cameron was in New Jersey for the weekend on a girls trip to Atlantic City. She decided to come earlier than her lady friends to have dinner with her daughter and her roommate, Dr. Remy Hadley.

Dinner was delicious. Allison and Remy had prepared ravioli, salad and garlic bread. During dinner, Doris noticed how very pretty Remy was and how comfortable the girls were with each other. At one point, she began to wonder if they were more than just colleagues and roommates. Allison, knowing her Mother so well, seemed to read her mind. When they were in the kitchen gathering up the dessert Allison told her Mom, "I know what you're thinking and I assure you Remy and I are just roommates".

About a week after Doris' visit, Allison was sitting curled up on the sofa with a medical journal waiting for Remy to make tea. Remy entered the room. "Hey Ally, have you seen the sugar bowl? I haven't seen it since that night your Mom was here."

Allison looked up and replied, "Do you think my Mom took our sugar bowl? Why would she do that?"

"I don't think she would, but I can't find it", Remy replied with a perplexed look.

"Let me email her", Allison suggested and took out her iPad:

Dear Mom,

Hope you are doing well and had a great trip. I can't wait to hear about it. Oh by the way, I'm not saying you took it and I'm not saying you didn't take it, but since you were here we can't find our sugar bowl. Any ideas?

Love Allison

The next evening the girls were snuggled on the sofa watching TV. Allison's iPad made that little dinging sound indicating she had received email. She disentangled herself from Remy and retrieved her iPad. A minute later, she wordlessly handed it to Remy.

Dear Allison,

I'm well. We had a great time. I will call you Thursday night after bunco with the ladies. By the way, I'm not saying you are and I'm not saying you aren't sleeping with Remy, but if Remy was sleeping in her own bed, you would have found the sugar bowl a week ago.

Love Mom

Remy laughed out loud, handing the iPad back to Allison. "Well Baby", she said, "the moral of this story is don't lie to your Mother!"
