Fog in the Windows

………………

Rima looked out of the window of the library. The rain had been pouring since that morning and probably had no intention to stop. She put a hand on the window. It was cold to the touch. Kusukusu sighed. "I wish that we could go outside," she whined. Rima just acted bored. She was painfully bored. She had read through all of her gag manga already.

Rima wanted to be sitting with her best friend Amu, but no, she was sitting across from Nagi. He was her friend, but he could be so damn annoying sometimes. Rima had started to feel a little uncomfortable about sitting with him. She had gotten up and stood in front of the window.

Nagi looked at the back of her head. She was just staring out the window with strong "you are annoying me without even saying a word" vibes. Nagi put down the book and walked over to Rima. "Do you see anything out there?" he asked. No answer. That was typical of Rima.

Rima just watched the rain continue to pour down. She jumped as she heard a noise close to her ear. She jumped. Nagi giggled and pointed to the condensation he had just put on the window. Rima blinked. It wasn't very spectacular. Rima knew anyone could do that. Nagi touched the tip of his finger to the window and drew a smiley face in the condensation. It shrank away slowly.

"I want to try!" cried Kusukusu. She breathed on the window and wrote "Bala-Balance" in the fog. Rhythm and Tamari did the same. Rhythm drew headphones and Tamari drew flowers. Rima just stared at them. It was a stupid, little kid thing to do. "C'mon Rima!" said Kusukusu. "It's fun!" Rima rolled her eyes and breathed onto the glass. She traced her finger through the fog, writing her initials in it.

Nagi laughed. "Do something original, Rima," he said. Rima just raised an eyebrow. Nagi leaned over Rima's shoulder and breathed, once again, on the glass. His breath tickled her ear and made her shiver. He took her wrist and held her hand up to the fog. "How about this?" he said. He guided her hand gently to make the shape of a spade. Rima made more fog on the window and drew a diamond. The two made fog all over the window, drawing squares, circles, diamonds, aces, spades, and clubs.

The two met in the middle and breathed onto the cool glass. A large cloud of fog appeared. Nagi and Rima both slowly drew curves into the fog, their fingers touching at the bottom point. It was a large heart in the middle of the window. Nagi reached to write something in it. Rima glared at him. "Do it," she warned. "I dare you to. See what happens. I dare you." Nagi smiled and wrote, "N Loves R" in the middle.

"The point was to not write it."

"You dared me too. I want to know what happens."

Rima scrawled in the heart for a couple of seconds. It now read, "Nagi Loves Rima". Nagi blinked. Rima turned away. "Initials are so unoriginal," she said. She started to walk out of the library, Kusukusu following faithfully. Nagi stood there in a kind of numbing realization. Rima stopped. She looked over her shoulder. "You coming?" she asked. Nagi jogged over and walked beside her through the hall.
