They had been so happy for a while. But like all good things, it had ended.
She hugged herself tighter, tears threatening to spill.
"I'll be alright, okay?" he had told her, a warm smile on his face. "I'll come back, you know that. There's nothing for you to be worried about."
And she had believed him. After all, it was just a tournament.
She muffled a sob, not wanting to worry her dormmates further. They tried to help her, but for all their Ravenclaw knowledge, they didn't know how. How could they understand? Contrary to popular belief, it hadn't just been a crush. She could honestly, truly say that she had loved him and he had loved her.
She looked at him, tears forming in her eyes as she tried her best to put on an encouraging smile. He turned to her, worried.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he had asked when she started to cry. He wrapped his arms around her, warm and comforting, and she leaned in gratefully, muffling her sobs against his shirt.
"I'm sorry… I'm being so stupid, I should be comforting you not the other way around."
"Don't say that, your far from stupid. Your just an amazing girlfriend," he had said, still cradling her in his arms.
They had stayed like that for a while before Cedric had to leave for the first task. How she wished he would hold her now.
It was all because of that tournament. At first, she had wanted to blame Harry, but couldn't. It hadn't been his fault. She wished the tournament never happened, that Cedric wasn't chosen. Then, she wouldn't have lost him.
The tears she had been holding back finally spilled. Dead. He was dead and never coming back.
The morning alarm sounded, telling all Ravenclaws to wake up. She quickly dried her eyes and started to fix her hair.
"I'm okay," she chanted softly to herself. "I'm okay. I'm okay."
Cho Chang fixed a hollow smile on her face and prepared for the day.
